It appears there was a decision to have all of the students meet up at the gymnasium.
All 400 students, including a bunch of instructors to help things run smoothly.
As for what exactly we're doing here, that's still up in the air, there are a couple of obvious scenarios, but I didn't bother thinking too much into it.
We were being split into Red team and White team already, but since there are so many of us the years and classes are getting mixed up a bit.
"Uh... h-hey."
This would be a prime example of what happens to a person when they get lost in a crowd.
A chance encounter.
"Shizukana, it's a pleasure to see you again."
I lifted a hand, scratching the back of my head as I sent a meek smile.
Even with my decisions, in front of this person it's still hard to just casually speak.
"It's nice to see you as w-well Horikita-senpai."
"It seems luck is on our side to have us on the same team for this exam, I'm sure it will be nice to work alongside you."
He put his hand out, and I eased up my smile, gladly taking his hand in mine, shaking it.
He kept a stoic expression, but I vaguely remember that the last time I saw him I had managed to instil shock onto those features.
Ah, that's right, I remember now.
"It's unfortunate that class D has to pair up with class A." I admitted.
"And why is that?"
"Simple, class A is the best class, nearly everyone there is already good at leading, in an e-event like this all class D needs to do is listen to A class, and things will work out for the best."
"Is that so?"
He sighed.
"Yes, I can see what you're saying. If I remember right that was how it was like in the previous years as well."
"Aw, how boring."
Just after saying that, someone stepped forward, introducing himself as Fujimaki, a 3rd year that is a part of class A, and explained that he would be in charge of Red team during this event.
"Mm, you're not going to be in charge?" I asked, tilting my head.
"No, Fujimaki expressed his desire to lead the Red team for this event, and considering his ability to motivate others to be physically active, I figured I may as well allow it."
"'Expressed his desire, I may as well allow it.' Man, you've got a pretty firm chokehold of y-your class huh?"
"Don't misunderstand, I'm unlike the others in your year."
Sheesh.
I put my hands up, grinning.
"Sorry sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. I just spoke a response similar to the way you explained the situation."
He stared at me for a moment, before nodding.
"It appears I could have chosen my words better." He admitted.
"Hey it's fine, I'm an understanding guy." I announced proudly.
"Hm."
We were soon after explained that the only event where all three years were to participate on together would be the 1200m race, and were then told to group up with those of the same year as you.
