"Ugh.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, but I was busy rubbing my nose, making sure it wasn't broken.
During the 200 metre dash, I was tripped.
This time it was definitely caught by the cameras, the person in question got a clear warning, and the class, C class, received a small penalty.
But fuck is my nose bleeding.
I face-planted hard because of that trip.
Even if the track is made of that rubbery, bouncy kind that's just nice on the feet, it still stings like a bitch when you're taking off at the beginning of a race, only to then be sliding along the ground face first.
I was able to recover quickly and secured second place behind, you guessed it, Koenji.
But now I'm resting just beside the track, where the other races are still going on.
I already had a small talk with the medics, and they confirmed that I would be fine to continue the festival. It was just a few cuts and scrapes on the face after all, if you ignore the nose that's leaking blood like a faucet.
That's an over exaggeration, it's not that bad, not at all, but the initial impact certainly caused a lot of blood to shoot out from it, there's literally a blood blot on the track from where I fell.
I'm surprised I could even see it to be honest, the track is rather red, maybe reddish-orange, but that blood spot is still very clearly visible even when I'm around 40 metres away.
That's crazy.
"I should probably drink some water." I mumbled.
I felt a shake, and was reminded that there was a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"You sure you good? That looked like a nasty fall, if that was on pavement..." Sudo shivered at the thought.
I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Promise."
He sighed, glad.
"Well, alright. But still, I can't believe those class C kids, they're all just a bunch of jerks."
"Totally."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to crush them when I'm up."
"Please do."
He grinned.
"And if any of them decide to try and trip me, I'll make sure they twist their ankle."
"Okay."
"...You sure you're good?" He mumbled.
I nodded.
"I just want to go recharge." I admitted.
"Recharge? You mean recover?"
"No, I need a lap pillow."
"..."
Sudo gripped my shoulder, and I looked up to see a look of culture on his face.
"I understand, go recharge."
"Sudo... thank you."
He nodded back, and helped me stand up.
"I'll make sure nobody gets through until it's my turn to run."
"Thank you. You truly are a great friend."
...
Once the 200 metre dashes were wrapped up, we were given a lunch break, something about the break being in between the different kinds of events.
