Chapter 95: Christmas

"I find it somewhat mysterious that you would be up here at this hour of the day, or rather, night. It is the 24th of December after all, do you have no one to celebrate the evening with?"

I could tell right away that she had initially said those words as a way to tease me, but I must have made her misunderstand the situation by not responding immediately.

She'd gotten more quiet with each word.

"I'm sure I could have found someone to hang out with, if I wanted to."

I didn't bother looking back, I knew she wasn't the type to take the action, or lack thereof, as disrespect.

Rather, I listened as her boots crunched against the snow, walking over to where I stood, at the edge of the dormitory's rooftop, keeping one hand on the railing.

She rested her arms on the railing as she leaned into it, and I rose a brow at the action.

"You're not scared of heights?" I asked.

Onodera grinned as she looked over at me.

"Are you?" She asked this in a challenging manner.

I rolled my eyes, but it did bring a smile to my face.

"What're you doing being all gloomy up here anyways? It's like, an hour or so from midnight."

"Relaxing." I responded truthfully.

She looked me over a bit, before laughing to herself.

"You really don't like the cold, huh?"

Ah yes, I was wearing quite a bit.

A toque, and patted mitts, wearing a thick sweater underneath the oversized jacket.

I kept myself properly wrapped up to keep the cold out.

"Haha, nope."

Mm, now I can't help but wonder what she's doing up here?

"What about you? What're you doing up here?" I decided to ask.

"Hm? Me? Haha."

She looked a little embarrassed to admit it, but ultimately spoke up.

"Truthfully, I saw you coming up here by chance, I thought you were doing some sort of secret planning or something and I wanted to see what that would look like so I decided to watch you for a bit. But uh, nothing happened, so I decided to just come out and check on you."

I smiled openly as she spoke.

"Hm, I can assure you that how I act in front of others is what it looks like when I'm planning things." I stated.

She looked confused.

"So then, you are planning things right now?"

"Yep! Only one thing though, it's a big one, so It's something I'm constructing carefully."

"I see, what kind of plan is it?"

When she asked that, I subconsciously clenched my fists as the target of my plans came to mind.

"A plan to destroy someone, who had the audacity to speak down to me, as well as someone else I'm close with." I spoke my venom with a smile on my face, and it was clear she understood that the subject of this plan was someone I did not like.

She leaned away a bit, pouting.

"Mou~, stop smiling like that, it's creepy." She shivered, adding dramatic effect to her words.

"How so?" I asked, putting away the dark thoughts for the moment.

"Well, it's like, it's a nice smile and all, but I swear there's just this aura that flares up behind you that makes you out to be some sort of demon."
