"Eeeeeh?"

I stared at the familiar face ahead of me as I stood there, his hands behind his back.

"Acting Director Tsukishiro, it's you gramps?"

"My my, you are still calling me by that affectionate name even now, Shizukana-kun?"

Eeeeeeeeeeh.

Okay so let me get this straight.

"So, you're the Acting Director?" I asked.

"Correct."

"And you're working under Atsuomi right now?"

"Technically yes."

...Huh?

Talk about a mind fuck, let me organize some of these thoughts real quick.

"How's your recovery going?" I blurted out.

I noticed his stormy blue eyes for a second as they widened, seemingly caught off guard by the question.

"Haha! It is going splendidly thanks to your pointers back then, thank you for asking."

"No problem."

I tilted my head, looking over the man once more.

There is no doubt that this is the same person, even if it's been a while.

"Hm. Should I start at the beginning then?"

"Go ahead."

"Were you aware of who I was back then?"

"Since the first day I saw you."

"Is that so? Then why wasn't I taken care of then and there?"

"Well, I had no obligation to, that is all. I was there on another job."

It seemed there was more that he wanted to say, but before I could prod for more information he continued.

"And if I'm being truthful, I quite enjoyed our meaningless conversations."

"Hehe, that means they weren't meaningless then, if you enjoyed them."

"Yes, I suppose so."

I couldn't help a small laugh as I thought up of something.

"Can I greet you here as I did back then in that case?"

He also laughed at my words.

"It'd be late to now, however going forward you may do as you please."

"Hehe, nice!"

I tried to calm myself a bit, but this man was honestly just a joy to be around.

It was the whole reason I called him gramps in the first place.

Back when I first met him there was an air about him that I couldn't help but be attracted to, and struck up a conversation with him using something I'd noticed, a small problem with... was it the blood circulation I think?

Either way, I was able to meet with him many more times because of that, and looking back each meeting was comparable to how a meeting with a child and their distant grandparents would've gone.

I went over, we talked and he told me stories about his work as I'd listen on, and he would even sometimes bring me gifts.

"If I may ask then, what is the purpose of you being instated here? If it were to have Ayanokoji and I expelled, you would've done so already no?"

"That would be correct. However, I'd been ordered not to yet, I'm afraid I don't know the reasoning as to why that is, but I'm sure if anyone can figure it out you can."
