This should go without saying, but one of the students who was greatly effected upon hearing what happened to Shizukana was Hirata.
I watched as Horikita came out of Hirata's bedroom, back into the kitchen area where I was seated.
"How is he doing?" I asked.
Hirata had gone almost unresponsive upon hearing about what happened, and apparently when Horikita tried talking to him earlier he broke down.
She had asked me over because she wanted someone else Hirata was closer to to be around for him.
According to her there were some pretty mixed responses when Horikita dropped the news of Shizukana's condition to the rest of the class.
Some were happy something worse hadn't happened, but most of the class was sad and felt pity for the smaller boy.
The anger towards Yamauchi was trumped by the pity felt towards Shizukana.
Not to mention, the beginning of the next exam comes tomorrow morning, everyone will be feeling rather weak going forward.
The results within the class had been unanimous.
Shizukana had received thirty-eight praise votes, placing him at first within the class, while Yamauchi was expelled from the class.
"Hirata's doing a bit better now, it seemed to have been good for him to let everything he was thinking out, but it's going to be rough going into the next exam with the state of the class right now."
I nodded, understanding completely.
"What's on your mind?" She suddenly asked.
Looking into her eyes, I know I wouldn't be able to scoot by with an answer that wasn't the truth.
Have I become that easy to read?
I shook my head.
"It's nothing. I just think it would be easier if I took the spotlight more." I decided to admit.
"I noticed you have been slowly raising the results of your marks and evaluations recently, has that been by Shizukana's request?"
"Yes. He wants me to garner the same trust and respect that people see in him for myself, because when he regains his memories..."
"He'll be against us."
"He told you about that?"
She confirmed my suspicion quickly.
"I probably shouldn't say this aloud like this, but I'm in that group he's putting together, I'm assuming you're in it as well."
Ryuen and Horikita, as well as me.
I see, Shizukana was gathering everyone together to properly defend the school from the invasion of the White Room.
He wanted to at least have a system that we can rely on to call ourselves allies.
And if worst comes to worst, we would defend the school from Shizukana himself.
"Yeah. But that's not important right now."
"Agreed. I looked more into the terms that nurse was using."
"And?"
"Most cases resolve in a near-complete recovery within six months, and in a couple of years he'll be back to normal, minus some medication he may still need to take."
