As Katsuki made his daring escape from the hero commission's radius, his pulse raced with the rush of adrenaline. However, his heart skipped a beat as he rounded a corner and came face to face with a familiar figure; a hero whose stern gaze bore into him with unwavering intensity.
It was none other than Eraserhead, the enigmatic pro hero and his former teacher at Yuuei. Katsuki's stomach churned with unease as he realized the gravity of the situation. Eraserhead was not someone to be trifled with, especially when it came to matters of justice and order.
The hero's piercing eyes bore into Katsuki, seeming to see right through his disguise. "Hold it right there" Eraserhead commanded, his voice low and authoritative. "What are you doing here?"
Katsuki's mind raced as he searched for a suitable response, his thoughts a whirlwind of panic and uncertainty. He couldn't afford to be recognized, not now, not when he was so close to completing his mission. With a forced nonchalance, he adopted the persona of Deadpool, his voice laced with sarcasm as he replied. "Just out for a midnight stroll. What's it to you?"
Eraserhead's expression remained stoic, his eyes narrowing. "I'm not stupid enough to not recognize you, Deadpool" he remarked, his tone flat. "And your presence here is unwelcome. I suggest you come with me for questioning"
As Eraserhead's gaze bore down on him, Katsuki felt the weight of his previous mentor's disappointment pressing down on him like a physical force. If only the man knew... He had to think fast if he wanted to escape without revealing his true identity.
It wasn't too often that he fought pro heroes, he was usually good at avoiding them. Especially heroes he personally knew. He didn't stand a chance, he wasn't even remotely prepared to face his once teacher.
With a quick flick of his wrist, Katsuki activated a smoke bomb concealed in his utility belt, enveloping the area in a thick cloud of orange smoke. Taking advantage of the chaos, he bolted past Eraserhead, his heart pounding in his chest as he sprinted into the heart of the city.
The sound of footsteps echoed behind him, Eraserhead in hot pursuit. With each stride, Katsuki pushed himself to the limit, his muscles tearing and healing with exertion as he tore past those lowly human limitations. The rush of adrenaline fueled his movements, propelling him forward with a speed and agility that exceeded his mortal form.
As he disappeared into the darkness, Katsuki knew that he'd narrowly evaded capture, but the encounter served as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurked in the shadows, ready to ensnare him at every turn. He would have to tread carefully in the days to come, for the eyes of heroes were now fixed upon him, watching and waiting for the moment to strike.
「This was a mistake on his part, he should've been more careful.」
When he stumbled into Teskai's apartment, his heart still racing from the adrenaline-fueled escape, Katsuki collapsed onto the nearest chair, his breath coming in ragged gasps. The weight of the encounter with Eraserhead hung heavy on his mind.
Teskai glanced up from his computer screen, concern etched into his features as he took in Katsuki's disheveled appearance. "What happened?" he asked, his voice tinged with worry.
Katsuki tugged off his mask, trying to steady his breathing as he recounted the tense encounter with Eraserhead. "I was this close to getting caught" He muttered, his voice filled with exhaustion. "He's good at his job"
Teskai frowned, his brow furrowing in thought as he processed the information. "We'll have to be more careful from now on" He said, his tone serious. "The Hero Commission isn't going to take kindly to someone snooping around their headquarters. Maybe we shouldn't've taken this job..."
Katsuki nodded grimly, his mind already racing with plans for their next move. "We'll just lay low for a while. I finished the job and for the price? I could pay your rent for the next ten years"
He tossed the USB over to his friend, who caught it with a sigh. "Fine. I'm only accepting out of district shit for now"
"You can just do hacking stuff. I have'ta get back into vigilante work for a bit"
"Parents aren't buying it?"
Katsuki sighed. "They are, and that's exactly why I have to go do it"
Teskai nodded, turning to sift through the data on the USB. "You wanna eat here? It'll be good to let things cool down tonight anyway"
"Sure. You eat too much take out anyway"
A snort came in response as Katsuki got up, dumping his weapons on the table as he stripped off his utility belt. Teskai mumbled something about gunpowder on his antique furniture but he ignored it.
This shit wasn't antique and his friend knew it. It was yard-sale junk.
As he moved into the only bedroom to change into some of his spare clothes, he realized something.
"You fucker! You didn't even go shopping, did you?" A cackle was his response. He was going to kill the teen one of these days.
