The sound of footsteps echoed again, this time coming from all sides. Whoever was in here wasn't alone. He could hear them now: multiple pairs of boots, moving carefully through the maze of machinery, staying just out of sight.
They were trying to corner him.
The sound of a low laugh sent a pleasant chill down his spine. Finally. Having to just drag Cipher out was getting boring.
"You really thought you could sneak out of here, Deadpool?" A voice sneered, echoing through the empty factory. "You're in my territory"
Katsuki's lips curled into a grin, adrenaline flooding his veins. He wasn't afraid, no, this was what he lived for.
"Looks like you don't know who you're dealing with" Katsuki responded, the words hidden under his breath.
He stepped forward, weaving his way through the machines, his body tensed like a coiled spring. Every noise, every shadow kept his senses on high alert. The footsteps were getting louder, the laughter more confident.
They thought they had him.
"Come on, then" Katsuki called, his voice low and dangerous. He spun his gun in his hand, ready for the next move. "I'll show you what happens when you try an' trap me"
When he caught sight of a figure, he shot, instantly morphing the human into nothing but a corpse. He continued this with everyone he saw.
His body jerked as he was hit with something. Some sorta quirk, he traced the blood-sucking tube back to another enemy.
Bang!
One by one they fell. Soon, it was quiet. Katsuki waited a few minutes before returning to Cipher. He grabbed the hero, roughly pulling him towards a gap he'd found while sweeping the space for more enemies.
Climbing through first, he decided that the hero didn't require delicate care, he dragged the body through, watching as bits of jagged metal cut through any exposed flesh.
Oh well, not his problem. He was told to bring the man alive. Nothing about unharmed. Nezu knew he wouldn't have listened to that last part if it'd been a condition.
Katsuki wasn't about to risk himself for some random hero he didn't give two shits about. He was here to retrieve his goods and collect bounties.
As soon as the hero was outside the building and securely hidden from any further enemies, he went back in.
Photos were taken of each head, even if they were barely recognizable. As were any identifying marks, like tattoos or large scars.
As he went, he collected any valuable items. He didn't need the money they would provide on the market, but he wanted to spoil Eri as much as he could.
With his career, he would be able to buy her the world
Katsuki returned to finish his job of retrieval, hoisting the still unconscious hero up. Dragging the body would leave too much of a trail.
He adjusted his grip on Cipher, throwing the unconscious hero over his shoulder in one smooth motion. The weight didn't bother him; he'd carried heavier loads in worse conditions. What bothered him was the thought of going back to Nezu.
The principal had a way of twisting everything to his advantage, and Katsuki wasn't in the mood for games. He didn't need the money, not when he had more lucrative jobs lined up in the underground. But this was about Eri. The only reason he was still dealing with Yuuei at all was for Eri.
He stepped away from the facility, moving quickly and silently, his mind already shifting away from the carnage behind him. It had been an easy job, all things considered. The guards were amateurs, and the traps? Please. A walk in the park for someone like him.
