As Katsuki and Cipher made their way through the narrow corridors of the facility, the air felt thick with tension. The stuck up hero had such a horrified expression upon passing by the guard he'd taken the keycard from. So annoying.
「In reference to another of the author's stories (Spark in Your Eyes), heroes and villains were equal. Villains, however, deserve a win.」
They were only a few steps away from the exit when Cipher came to a halt, his eyes scanning the nearby security terminal.
Katsuki shot him a glance. "What's the hold-up?" He growled, impatience lacing his voice.
Cipher's fingers hovered over the keypad. "This system... this isn't what it was. Something's wrong. Before they caught me, it was easy to get into. It feels different now"
Before Katsuki could respond, a shrill, ear-piercing alarm suddenly blared throughout the facility. Red lights flashed, casting harsh shadows across the grimy walls. The sound was deafening, reverberating through every corner of the compound.
"Shit" Katsuki hissed, his muscles tensing. "They know we're here"
Cipher paled, his eyes widening in panic. "I- I must have triggered something. There wasn't-"
Katsuki grabbed Cipher by the collar and shoved him towards the terminal, silencing him with a glare. "No time for your bullshit excuses. We've got company"
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway, growing louder with each passing second. Katsuki's sharp ears picked up voices. Muffled orders, barked commands.
"They're coming" Cipher muttered, his voice trembling.
Katsuki peeked around the corner, his eyes narrowing as he spotted guards converging from both ends of the hallway. They were well-equipped, moving with tactical precision. There was no way they could slip by unnoticed now.
"Looks like we're surrounded" Katsuki said, a dark smirk forming on his lips. "Guess it's finally time to have some fun"
Cipher's head snapped toward him, panic flashing across his face. "We're trapped, you maniac! We need a plan!"
"Stay out of my way" Katsuki ordered, reaching for his swords.
Before Cipher could further protest, Katsuki darted forward, his body a blur of motion as he closed in on the first group of guards. The air crackled with tension as the first few gunshots rang out, but Katsuki was already on them.
He slashed through the nearest guard with brutal efficiency, his blade slicing through flesh and armor like butter. The guard's body crumpled to the floor, a pool of blood spreading beneath him.
In his peripheral vision Cipher harshly flinched at the sight, his breath catching in his throat. "What...?"
The remaining guards raised their weapons, but Katsuki was too fast. He ducked under the barrage of gunfire, his movements fluid and precise. His sword flashed again, cutting down another guard before they had a chance to react.
Katsuki wiped the blood from his blade with a cold, practiced motion. "You're right" He tilted his head, listening to the footsteps getting louder. "It's a real party now"
Cipher gripped the security terminal, his fingers trembling as he tried to pull up schematics. "We can't take them all on! We have to find another way!"
"We?" He mumbled under his breath. There was no 'we'. This was a job, a commission, a rescue mission. There was no goddamn 'we' in this equation.
Another group of guards appeared at the end of the hallway, rifles raised, ready to fire. Katsuki's eyes narrowed as he dashed toward them, ignoring their gunfire with terrifying ease. His body barely jerked when hit, far too used to the recoil of a gunshot. His blades gleamed under the red emergency lights as he tore through them, each strike swift and lethal.
The bodies fell around him, and Cipher, frozen in horror, could do nothing but watch.
"Focus!" Katsuki barked, spinning back toward Cipher. "Shut the damn alarms off!"
Heroes were so useless.
Cipher worked the controls, frantically inputting commands while trying to drown out the sounds of the carnage behind him. He could still hear the screams, the gurgling breaths as the guards fell one by one, of course.
"There's no override! We need to-"
"Useless. Shut it down" Katsuki snapped, his voice low and deadly, "or I can just tear my way through every last one of them until we're clear"
Cipher obviously didn't like the latter option, quickly turning back to the terminal's screen. Katsuki could see the faint glow of green as the hero activated his quirk.
How annoying.
He turned back as another wave of guards closed in, guns and shots of offensive quirks aimed at him. How very annoying indeed.

Katsuki kinda gives Slade Wilson vibes. I've been reading too much DC lately
