The tension was only continuing to rise, showing no signs of stopping, and Katsuki was reaching the end of his patience. He could feel Teskai's weight slowly becoming more shifty, showing that the teen was beginning to come to his senses more. Good, but the situation was not ideal.
Not with the heroes on his ass.
"Stop!" A voice commanded behind him as he took a few shuffling steps forward, testing the waters. "Put the hostage down!"
Katsuki cursed under his breath. He'd gotten sloppy. The whole rescue taken too much time. It hadn't been quick enough. Teskai groaned, his voice barely audible as he stirred in Katsuki's arms, his head lolling to the side in confusion.
"D'Pool...?"
He ignored the whisper, eyes darting toward the facility's exit just ahead.
Before he could make his move, the heroes cut him off, their figures menacing in a way he didn't like. They were serious. Katsuki came to a halt, his grip tightening around Teskai. Dammit.
A hero he recognized with a heavy heart stepped forward, fists clenched. "You're not taking him anywhere"
Katsuki's eyes narrowed at Eraserhead. "I'm not the one who did this, you fuckin' idiots"
A woman beside him shook her head. "You can't talk your way out of this one, Deadpool"
Katsuki growled, frustration finally boiling over. "He's alive because of me! You want him dead? Keep standing in my damn way!"
The heroes hesitated, glancing at the bloody carnage surrounding them. Teskai let out a faint noise, struggling weakly in Katsuki's grasp, too disoriented to fully understand the situation.
Definitely had a concussion.
But before anyone could move, there was a sudden burst of movement from behind. Katsuki barely had time to react before something slammed into him from the side, knocking Teskai out of his arms. He hit the ground hard, his vision blurring for a moment.
When he looked up, one of the enemy thugs was dragging Teskai back, a cruel grin on his face.
"Gotcha, hacker boy"
Katsuki's blood ran cold. "You bastards!"
But before he could make a move, more figures emerged from the shadows: reinforcements. The heroes looked just as shocked as he was, momentarily frozen by the sudden attack.
Katsuki's mind raced. No. Not like this.
Without thinking, he pushed himself to his feet, adrenaline surging through him. He couldn't lose Teskai. Not now. Not after everything.
One of the thug's hands morphed into a blade, freezing Katsuki in place. The glint of pseudo-metal hovered dangerously at Teskai's throat, just close enough to draw a thin line of blood. Katsuki's heart slammed against his ribs, but his face remained cold, controlled.
"I'll come with you" He growled. He stepped forward slowly, his hands half-raised. "Let him go and I'm yours. That's what you fuckwads want, right?"
The sinister smiles that greeted his words widened, like wolves sensing their prey. The tension in the air was thick, almost tangible. Teskai, barely conscious, was held at arm's length, his body limp and defenseless.
The thugs seemed to delight in taunting Katsuki, pushing him closer to the edge. They knew what he valued, and they were playing with it.
"Come closer, Deadpool" One of them sneered, twisting the blade slightly to deepen the cut on Teskai's neck. A thin trail of blood trickled down. "Or maybe we'll find out how much more this little hacker can take"
Katsuki's teeth clenched behind his mask. His every instinct screamed at him to strike, to tear through them all. But he couldn't.
Not while Teskai was still in their grip. The teen had gone through enough already.
He stepped forward, his jaw set and eyes narrowed as he made the trade. His movements were deliberate, careful not to provoke any sudden reactions from the group.
Teskai was tossed away like a ragdoll, crumpling to the ground, barely conscious. Katsuki's gaze flicked to him, making sure he was still breathing. The thugs, however, didn't spare the hacker another glance. Their eyes were glued to Katsuki now, hungry, filled with something darker.
He could feel it radiating off them, this wasn't about Teskai anymore. It may never have been. They wanted him. They wanted Deadpool.
"Don't try anything stupid" One of the thugs warned, his voice dripping with smug satisfaction. His scarred face twisted into a grin, and Katsuki could almost taste the anticipation in the air. "We've been waiting a long time for this"
Katsuki glared, his muscles tensing as they closed in. They grabbed him, hands gripping his arms and shoulders like he was a trophy they'd finally caught. But he didn't fight back. He didn't resist. Not yet.
Because he wasn't worried. He wasn't scared.
He could feel the weight of the heroes' gazes watching, but they weren't moving. The guards were too focused on their prize to care, dragging Katsuki around, towards whichever spot had the most lighting.
The thugs didn't know what they were holding onto. They didn't know the storm that was coiled tight inside him was ready to snap.
His eyes flicked to the heroes one last time before they disappeared from view, blocked by a wall of thugs. He couldn't risk them trying to interfere.
This was his game right now.
They thought they had him, thought they'd outsmarted the infamous Deadpool. They couldn't be more wrong.
Because Katsuki wasn't going down without a fight. Let them try to tear him apart, let them think they had control.
They were so dead.
