AN: Though not specifically mentioned, I pictured Vendetta Leon when writing this lovers to enemies to lovers imagine!
---------------------------------------------------
I climb off of Leon's bike, hair ruffling in the wind as Leon follows, looping an arm around my shoulders as we head into the White House and straight for the briefing. We've been mission partners for longer than I can remember, slowly our partnership flourished into something more, I got under Leon's skin in all the best ways, helping him battle his nightmares as well as his problems with drinking. He still struggles with it, but it's definetly gotten better since we started living together. "Think it'll be a hard one?" Leon asks as we pass security. I shrug, giving him a small smile as our footsteps echo around the polished corridors.
"Maybe, or maybe we've just been called to deal with a rat problem or a missing dog?" I joke. It's easier to use humour to deal with the unknown rather than lingering on what haunting things we'll be forced to deal with. As soon as we reach the meeting room Leon's arm slips from my shoulders and we go back to being cool and composed agents, not a couple who'd rebel against orders if it meant saving the other. Leon holds the door and we go in, taking our usual spots as our boss comes walking in. The lights go out as usual, and a presentation is given.
"There's been recent rumours of a new terrorist organisation known as EradicaCorp planning to strike against the country, and possibly the world, by using unknown bioweaponry. We've had agents notice they've got affiliations with the bioscience company known as Umbrella. Leon, I'm sure you know who they are. We've got to put a stop to their attempts before it's too late. Intel tells us their planning their first strike in Las Vegas, one agent noticed unusual deliveries to a casino near Caesars Palace, the components suggest some kind of bomb is or has been constructed, it could possibly be nuclear or filled with some kind of virus. It's your job to locate and disable the bomb discreetly, eliminate any threats if needed. This is a top secret assignment, only our best are being sent with you."
With that we're dismissed. A weight hangs over me at the importance of our job. I look to Leon as we head back to bike in order to go home and prepare, we'll probably be in Las Vegas by tomorrow morning. "You okay?" Leon asks, running a hand through his dark hair. I nod, plastering on a fake smile as I take his hand in my own, lifting it to press a kiss to the top of it.
"Yeah, it'll be fine. We'll be in and out."
The next morning we find ourselves in Sin City. After prepping in the hotel we were offered, Leon and our team begin our infiltration into the casino. We spend a few hours walking the streets of Las Vegas, posing as a newly married couple, then as the late afternoon approaches we venture into the massive building, intel was lacking and we're practically walking into danger, but we didn't have enough time to properly prepare, not if EradicaCorp are planning on turning everyone into the walking dead. Leon's arm rests snugly around my waist as our team follow behind us, since the casino is fairly busy with traffic there's no reason we should be detected. I scan the casino, eyeing up the tourists and gamblers, but something feels off...
"GET DOWN!" One agent yells, it's followed by a series of gunshots. Leon immediately drags me to the carpeted floor, his body covers mine as the gunshots continue, joined by screams and more guns joining the fray.
"What happened? Did we do something wrong?" I ask, panic clawing at me as I look to my left to see a fellow agent get shot at more times than I've got fingers and toes. I swallow, turning off that emotional side of me as I grab my gun from inside of my jacket. Leon rolls off of me, doing the same but faster since he's more experienced. In unison we crouch behind the slot machines, the cheerful dings and music a humorous contrast to the bloodied bodies and rapid attack we're receiving. Leon's face is pure focus and frustration as he peeks out of the cover and takes down a few enemies. I kneel up, narrowly avoiding a stray bullet as I find a target and fire. The man goes down from the headshot. The casino's practically empty now aside from the agents and our enemies. It's a one sided fight- and we're on the losing team.
