AN: In this one, Leon and Y/N stay at an old estate for their honeymoon, but what began as a peaceful time soon turns into a living nightmare...
---------------------------------------------------------As soon as Leon turns down the dirt road, the autumn leaves vibrant and orange, blocking our view from the main road we've just come from, a sense of peace washes over me. It's the first time I've actually felt alone since the wedding a couple days ago, it's been a whirlwind of chaos making sure we were packed for our honeymoon and then making sure Claire knew how to take care of our home and animals whilst we were gone. Leon's hand reaches out, linking our fingers together as he smiles just as the first glimpse of our temporary home comes into view.
The massive, gothic estate looks like something from a movie. I gasp, eyes widening at the building and the surrounding trees and gardens. Leon chuckles under his breath, blue eyes looking in my direction as he parks the car near the front doors. I'm left in awe, completely breathless at the dream come true. "It's so beautiful, I can't believe we're actually here." I mumble, lips curving upwards as Leon nods and lifts my hand to press a kiss to the back of it.
"You know I'd do anything for my wife," Leon drawls, "besides, you spent hours staring at this place whilst looking for honeymoon spots, I'd be off to a terrible start if I let you down." He shrugs. I can't imagine how much Leon paid to rent this place, but I imagine it's more than I would've ever considered. I grin, stepping out of the car as a chilly breeze blows through my hair. I hold back a shiver, choosing to wrap my arms around Leon's waist instead as he takes my side and leads us to the front door. It seems so big now that we're closer, only enhancing my feelings of stepping into a real life romance novel.
"It's perfect, thank you for letting me have this." I softy say as Leon unlocks the door. He nods, letting the massive oak door swing open to reveal a massive entrance room, with a spiral staircase in the corner and a vast number of corridors leading in all different directions. Leon and I both stand there with our jaws dropped, the huge chandelier swings from the breeze, creaking somewhat ominously as I swallow and brush away the slightest ounce of fear. It's nothing to be scared of, it's an old estate after all, of course it's going to be a little worn down with time. Leon seems to share my thoughts though, because he turns to me, one dark brow arched as he nods to the still swinging chandelier despite the breeze being gone.
"Don't you think it's a little, uh, creepy?" Leon asks, holding his hands up in a surrender as I frown and shake my head, moving past him to enter the estate and soak in more of the atmosphere.
"No, I think it's romantic!" I reply, "And it's perfect for our honeymoon, at least now we'll have some time alone, and we've got so much space to do whatever we want." I grab his hand, already leading him around as we explore the rooms and possibilities of what we can do.
Leon huffs a laugh, swinging our joined hands as he eyes up the old paintings and furniture with an uneasy glare. "Sure sweetie, it is perfect...perfect for a ghost to pop out and ask us to leave." I elbow him for his teasing, letting out a small laugh as we finally finish looking at all the rooms before going back to the car and grabbing our bags and getting settled.
The next few days are nothing short of a peaceful bliss, we spend all our time together, including spending hours reading in the cosy library with floor to ceiling bookshelves, with Leon reading some old Arthur Conan Doyle detective story and me reading something more romantic. We snuggle on the loveseats in front of the fire, basking in our closeness and the rare opportunity to nap together.
We cook in the ancient kitchen, where the oven looks like it belongs in a museum, and the both of us spend more time laughing in confusion rather than actually getting dinner ready. "Think this thing runs on magic? Looks like Hansel and Gretel might've been sacrificed in here." Leon pointed out as he crouched in front of the oven, brows knit together in both amusement and confusion whilst he tried to turn it on.
