------------------------------------------------------
The country has been in complete chaos since the sudden death of Queen Connie, the whispers and rumours of a secret member of the royal family had everyone- including myself- intrigued and on the edge of their seats. People made up conspiracy theories and others tried to pretend it was them, however I just listened and assumed things would come to light in their own time with me watching the screens as a usual bystander. Never in a million and one years did I think that I was the missing princess. I mean when I was shown proof and tallied up the facts, it made sense and was logical, but it took me weeks of convincing to own up to the fact and acknowledge my father's existence for what it was. He wasn't just King Regis anymore, he was the father I've been missing my whole life. Being thrust into the spotlight was both wonderful yet exhausting, with debts to my name I now had a means of paying them off, but the spotlight resolved to be tiring and constant. Newspapers and media outlets followed me home, until I was finally forced to move into the castle with my dad.
What a dream come true, right?
Ha, nope.
Anger and isolation consumed me, my new life felt nothing but a lie. I spent days alone wandering the castle halls before the king- my dad- finally showed up again after visiting another country. Not to mention I was assigned a damn babysitter, or is he a bodyguard? I wasn't even remotely prepared for this new life, much less meeting my dad for the first time or dealing with my bodyguard, Leon Kennedy.
Leon's the picture of calm and collected, with his soft jawline and handsome features, his blonde hair and piercing blue eyes that always seemed to follow my every move, it's frustrating yet comforting all the same. We barely talk, yet our actions seem to clash like oil and water. I'd stand and he'd move to follow. I'd sit and he'd settle against the wall to stay. I yawn and his eyes widen as if my fatigue means illness. I didn't need a protector, I needed a friend. I didn't want a gilded cage, I needed a home.
The first time of meeting my father came quicker than expected, especially after his delays, but regardless it went just how I'd anticipated...
"You've kept me a secret my whole life. and now because your desperate and alone you suddenly need me around? I'm not a pawn in your game!" I shout across the room as my father pinches the bridge of his nose. He genuinely seemed nice, but like usual I let my emotions dictate my actions. The anger I thought I'd kept contained finally spilled over. My father sighs as he looks to Leon for help, but the bodyguard just stands behind me, keeping his arms at the sides of his well ironed suit as I huff a laugh and shake my head in frustration.
"Y/N, I understand your anger and feelings, but-" The king begins, his voice authoritative and calm, but I cut him off.
"No you don't! You have no idea what it's like to be thrown into all of this against your will!" I shout, standing up as my chair screeches. Behind me Leon tenses up, face full of protectiveness but it's not aimed at me.
"Watch how you speak to the king." He lowly warns as my head swivels in his direction. I open and close my mouth, until yet again my rage gets the better of me.
"Go fuck yourself with the stick that's jammed up your ass!" I scoff, then without hearing another word I storm out, leaving both men in the wind as I weave past staff and security. I hear my dad shout for me, but then Leon seems to begin saying something in a soft and soothing tone, it's like a switch has been flipped inside of him, from cool and professional to friendly and likeable in a matter of seconds. I hate that the king was right, I chose to acknowledge my title and position, but I didn't think it through as well as I should have. I rush to my assigned bedroom, slamming the door shut as vases and paintings rattle down the hallway, I even hear one maid yelp in surprise.
