My heart drops as soon as I hear that I'm assigned to work with Leon S. Kennedy- the government's favourite golden boy who's secretly breaking hearts and headboards left right and centre. I hold back my complaints and pleas for my boss to switch agents with me, since I'm usually the type of person who'll just accept the job for what it is, clench my teeth and get on with it, preferably without incident. I walk out of the meeting room with the handsome heartbreaker already waiting for me, his stoic expression doing nothing but making me feel like I'm in his way rather than a helping hand, I don't miss the way his blue eyes roam me up and down though, as if he's silently assessing me, probably wondering how long it's going to take to get me to bend over for him. He pushes himself away from the wall, his taller frame towering over me as I suck in a breath and raise my chin, giving him my best 'no nonsense' look.
"I know how you are, and I want to make you aware that I don't...get involved...with my colleagues." I say, voice quieter than I'd hoped it'd be as Leon's lips curve just the tiniest fraction. His perfect blonde brow arches in challenge as I feel my cheeks heat up, since we're both no doubt thinking of him 'getting involved' with the women he works with- and the women he doesn't. I'm not shaming him for sleeping around, I know some people enjoy it, but from what I've heard around the offices, Leon's not the type to seek out the same woman twice, much less spend more than a few hours in bed with them. He's like a stray, getting fed and filling his needs before swiftly moving on and leaving the poor women hoping for more. I swallow as he prowls closer, that knowing smile growing as he tilts his head.
"You've been getting ready for me?" He murmurs, innuendo clear as my cheeks burn brighter. I scowl though, frowning as I cross my arms over my chest and step away from him, as if being close is enough to be another notch on his bedpost.
"I did some preparation, yes. Our styles are completely different, and I've heard you're a 'take control' kind of person, whereas I like to gather information and...why are you laughing at me?" I lead off, narrowing my eyes as Leon's chest rises and falls with silent chuckles. His grin knocks the breath out of me as his eyes twinkle mischievously, it takes me a few seconds to realise his mind has gone straight to the gutter, whereas I'm simply discussing our work attitudes. My pulse pounds in my ear once the realisation hits, and I end up turning away, hiding my embarrassed face from him as I begin to walk away and demand the higher ups partner me with someone less playful. I don't get far though, Leon rushes to catch up with me, hand reaching for my arm as he gently ushers me to face him.
"Look, I'm sorry," He softly says, oddly sounding genuine, "I didn't realise the boss but me with such a stick in the mud, but I promise I'll be good for you." He winks, and all hope I had for a brief few seconds disappears out of the window. I groan, shrugging his hand away before I storm down the hall away from him, feeling his eyes piercing into me with every step I take. I refuse to fall for his charm, I'm practically immune to flirting since I've not really had much experience with it. I'm left alone to simmer for the rest of the day, but first thing the next morning I enter my office to find Leon already there, two mugs of coffee on my desk as he sits up from my chair behind the desk. "Hey sweetheart, I'm sorry about yesterday, so I figured this'd make up for it?" He smiles, pushing the coffee towards me as I clench my fists and force a gentle smile.
"It's a start, as long as you're not going to bribe me into returning some kind of favour." I pull a face of disgust as Leon blinks at me, for a second I'm sure I see a hint of hurt cross his features, but then he covers it up with a chuckle as he moves around the desk, finger already tapping the tip of my nose before he slumps into the armchair opposite me.
"I don't need favours when everyone's willing." He tosses out, grabbing his mug and the file we've been assigned to read through. I snort, sitting at my desk and reorganising the stationary Leon's been fiddling with. I suddenly stiffen when I see my book still resting on my desk from yesterday- I keep it in the office to pass the lunchbreak, and the half naked man on the cover basically screams out what genre it is. Leon notices my deathly still reaction as he smirks over the rim of his mug, sipping as if he's a Victorian gossiper. "Don't bother being awkward about it, I've already flicked through the pages. It's...inspiring."
