Petting Zoo Visits| Request

AN: In this one Reader, Leon and their daughter (I've named her Sherry but you can imagine otherwise) visit the petting zoo!

Leon's hand links with mine as he turns the car down the country road to where the petting zoo is. I glance behind me at the backseat to where Sherry's staring out of the window, her eyes wide as she soaks in the nature and excitement of the mystery. When we pass a massive sign reading 'Petting Zoo This Way!' she begins to grin, looking to me as Leon hypes her up further. 

"We're almost there! Are you excited?" He asks, stealing a glance at Sherry in the rear view mirror. Sherry nods enthusiastically, since we promised to take her somewhere fun due to her excellent test scores at school, she's been talking non-stop about going to the petting zoo, so as dutiful parents Leon and I made arrangements and booked the tickets a few days ago. 

"I can't believe we're going to the petting zoo, I hope we see all kinds of animals! Mom, Dad, can we bring one home?" She asks, eyes wide as she clasps her hands together. Leon chuckles as we reach the car park, he swiftly finds a place as I begin checking that I've got everything. 

"I think they all like living here, so probably not." He replies, earning a pout from Sherry, "But, maybe at the end we can visit the gift shop?" He adds with a smile, hoping to rekindle her mood. Sherry nods, smiling until we're parked. I get out first, catching Sherry as she wrestles with her seatbelt and tries to get out of the car, she giggles as I lovingly huff at her, shaking my head before helping her untangle from the seatbelt. Leon joins us, then with each of us taking one of Sherry's hands we head to the entrance, quickly scanning our tickets before our day of fun begins. After the two hour car journey both Leon and Sherry are filled to the brim with energy, unlike me who's sleepy from the hum and relaxing drive, the pair drag me with wide eyed expressions, Leon's not much better than Sherry with his curious look of wonder. 

 I release Sherry's hand, and instantly the duo are off, rushing to the first animal pen as I briskly walk to catch up. All around us families enjoy the sights and animals, with kids running around and parents calling after them- it's a nice atmosphere. By the time I reach Leon and Sherry they're already at the goat pen, with Sherry eyeing up the goats suspiciously as they graze and walk towards her and Leon. I let out a small laugh as Leon and Sherry share a look of concern, both inching away as the goats approach them. One mischievous looking goat bows its head low, tongue and mouth inching under the fence as it tries to nibble of Sherry's brightly coloured shoes. She yelps, jumping back into Leon's arms as we smother laughs at the scene. 

"Bad goat, you're supposed to be harmless!" Sherry scolds it, turning in Leon's arms as she frowns at the animal. Leon reaches out, wrapping an arm around my waist as his other hand reaches out and gently pats the mischievous goat's body. It bleats and lifts its head, deciding Leon's hand is worth licking. Sherry giggles, a little more relaxed now that her dad's shown her that the animal doesn't have bad intentions. I crouch down, stroking the goat's chin as it turns to me and bleats again, making both Sherry and Leon chuckle. 

"I think it likes you." Leon points out when the goat begins to chew at the sleeve of my top. I curse under my breath, pulling away as it inches forwards, the fence luckily blocking its path. In the meantime, Sherry's used the food dispenser to feed another goat, one that's less naughty and more relaxed. It gently eats out of her hand as she smiles at it, a look of admiration on her face. I stand up, nudging Leon as we both watch the cute moment, Leon pulls out his phone, snapping a photo before taking one of us with the mischievous goat behind us. "Right, should we go see some more animals?" Leon asks, holding out a hand for Sherry to take. She nods, clutching his hand and taking mine once more as we walk across the field to another pen.
