I Guess I Should Forgive You Now

Anticipation thrums through me as I stare up at the ship, it's massive and kind of intimidating, but as the sun beats down on me I can't help but to feel excited at our fortnight of fun, Leon and I both deserve a break from our busy lives, and with the trouble we've been having with him being away from me so much, this might be the patch up our love need to hold together. Leon finally catches up to me, his vibrant eyes almost the same colour as the ocean as he stands behind me and rests his chin on my shoulder.

"I'm thinking we should probably get on if we want our cruise this year." Leon murmurs, words taking a few seconds to register as I widen my eyes and check the time. With a curse I dash through the crowd with Leon chuckling behind me, our suitcases roll next to him as we make our way onto the luxurious ship and find our cabin. We spend some time unpacking as Leon oddly checks the room for 'safety', then hand in hand we begin to explore the ship as it sets sail. The salt air meets us quickly as we both wander around, mouths curved as we spot numerous activities to do and places to spend our time. Leon already relaxes as he wraps an arm around my waist and guides me to one of the restaurants, it wasn't the place I'd originally suggested, but nonetheless I roll with Leon's choice.

I sit by the window, the sun begins to set as Leon's fingers link with my own. "It's so peaceful, and there's so much we can do together. I'm definetly signing us up for that couples sunrise yoga for tomorrow morning." I joke, glancing at Leon as his lips form a thin line. I arch my brow, wondering why he's staring at me with such suspicion, until I realise he's glaring at the person seated behind me. I begin to turn until Leon squeezes my hand, shaking his head as he plasters on a smile.

"What were you saying, honey?" Leon asks, still not giving me his full attention. My heart drops as I swallow back insults and threats, I figured this cruise would give us some much needed time alone, but even now Leon's probably thinking about work or something. I sigh, slumping in my seat as I tug my hand away from his.

"Nothing." I mumble, once more looking out into the horizon as the sea becomes darker and darker as night arrives. Our food arrives but Leon and I barely touch it, it's like the mood between us has soured like milk. He still glances over my shoulder, then even checks his watch as I try to think of something to say. My annoyance grows right until dessert, when some stranger finds themselves leaning down to mumble in Leon's ear. Leon looks frustrated, eyes finding mine as my jaw literally drops. I hear some kind of information exchange happen between them, then the man walks away quickly as Leon already begins to apologise.

"Y/N, I didn't mean for-"

"For me to find out? Are you fucking serious, Leon?" I snap, standing up as my chair screeches, "We get to come on a cruise to get away from work and finally have some time together, and you're here for the exact reason we left? Did you pick this cruise because you knew I'd like it, or because it was convenient for a mission?" I ask, already knowing the answer as Leon's shoulders slump. I shake my head, storming away as my body trembles with rage. Leon's at least smart enough not to follow me back to our room, where I cool off by sitting outside and listening to the ship glide through the ocean waves until I begin to shiver.

When I go back into the room, Leon's sat on the bed waiting for me, his clothes are rumpled as if he's been in a fight, and there's a new scrape on his jaw. I scoff, crossing my arms over my chest as he runs a hand through his dark hair. "I'm sorry."

"No." I shake my head, "I don't accept it. I can't believe you thought you could combine a mission with our downtime. I mean, can't you give me two weeks without mixing me with your work!" I shout, throwing my hands up as Leon stands and reaches for me, but I step out of his hold and turn away.

"I didn't mean for it to go this way, I thought I could get the mission done within a few days then we'd have the rest of the time together. I know it's selfish, but it just happened. I picked this cruise and booked it first, then I found out that another agent was supposed to be on this ship gathering information, so I figured I'd help out and I offered to take over since I was already going to be here. I did pick you first." Leon pleads, but his words only anger me further.
