AN: This request is about Y/N and Luis Serra, and their best friend Leon Kennedy. The trio have been friends for years since the events of Spain and Leon's rescue, but something deeper has been developing between Y/N and Leon. After a heated argument, the pair finally come to terms with their feelings...
---------------------------------------------------------Leon slumps onto the sofa next to Luis, both chuckling at some joke whilst a sports game plays loudly on the TV. I watch from where I'm stood in the kitchen to mine and my brother's apartment, it's still so different from our lives in that small village in Spain, back when we'd share a blanket and take turns using the one bed our abuelo managed to get us. Those days were filled with experiments with Luis' chemistry kits and fishing at the docks for hours on end with handcrafted nets, it used to be so peaceful...until Los Illuminados happened. Luis and I are so lucky that Leon came along and saved us from their wrath, refusing to focus only on his mission and Ashley Graham. Leon's kindness knows no bounds, there's no wonder I'm head over heels for him.
I look over at the pair still lounging on the sofa, but Leon's soft smile and shining blue eyes meet mine- he's already looking at me. I return the smile and get back to preparing my drink, listening in on their conversation. I huff a laugh as Leon recounts his latest mission, Luis hangs onto every word, ever the wide eyed little boy I've grew up with. It isn't until Leon skims over something that sounds awfully dangerous that my mood swiftly sours. My smile fades as Leon talks about almost being killed in some kind of house fire, then he talks about being a fugitive in China, and how he barely escaped being pulled into some vendetta along with two government agents who wanted to reveal some dark secrets or something. I turn and see Leon wave up a hand in dismissal, ready to change the subject.
I cross my arms over my chest, stalking over to my brother and our best friend. "Quit making it sound as if you're some action hero, Leon. You're not indestructible." I narrow my eyes as Luis's matching ones widen. Leon's brows dip as he lets out an unsure laugh, looking between Luis and I as if I'm the one who's done wrong.
"After all the shit I've lived through, I'm beginning to question it actually." Leon retorts playfully, hoping to ease the tension I've created, but his words only spark my frustrations further. Luis mumbles something like 'here we go' under his breath as he grabs a pillow and holds it to his chest, his expression seems at ease but there's no denying the tense shoulders and the way his lips thin. I scoff at Leon, shaking my head as he sits up straighter, raising his chin at me.
"You've just got lucky."
"I fucking feel far from it, Y/N. I'm just good at what I do, that's all there is to it." Leon replies, shrugging a shoulder as he stands up. I hold my ground, reaching out a hand to stop him from passing me. He blinks at me in surprise, but then he sighs and crosses his arms too, both of us mirroring each other whilst Luis rushes to get to his feet, his head swivels in both our directions in conflict, as if he wants to side with both teams.
"Well one day something's going to happen, and we'll all see just how 'good' at it you are." I snap, chest rising and falling as fear grips me. "You're always playing the hero, saving anyone and putting your life at risk when there's no need to, I hate it."
"You didn't hate it three years ago when I saved you." Leon argues, the point hitting me in the chest. My jaw drops at his defensive tone, even Luis frowns and places a hand on Leon's shoulder, but he shrugs it off, shaking his head. "I won't sit around and watch whilst people get hurt, not when I could be protecting them." His words sting as my lip wobbles, Leon's harsh expression falters for a second, but then I give him my venom.
"You're not protecting them! Not if you're getting yourself killed in the process!" I shout, shoving Leon away as tears prick my eyes. Leon reaches out but I step back, turning away from both him and my brother whilst they share a look. Suddenly this isn't just a dumb argument, it's so much more. "I've seen what you do, I know you're capable, but I hate it. I hate it when you give off that false bravado and march off to the next mission, leaving me worried sick as my mind conjures up every worst case scenario. I hate that one day you won't come back, and we'll have to see you one last time in a goddamn box in the ground! Do you know how much that scares me?" I turn on him, tears falling down my cheeks as Luis' face falls, "I just want you to stay here and be safe so I can take care of you." I whisper, voice trailing off as I realise how I've made it sound. I'm not wrong, but that part didn't mean to come out yet. Or ever.
