"This is not interesting."
"Be quiet, Dad could hear you."
"I'm not concerned."
Bentley and I both shut our mouths as Bryce cleared his throat.
He's just my older brother, as if I give a damn about him. However, we are both the offspring of renowned billionaire "Vaughn D'Louvières."
"Mrs. D'Louvières, closer, please," the photographer urged to my mother.
We're doing this photo session, which has been going on since I was born. Where is this supposed to go, magazine? A billboard? I'm not sure.
"Please, the three children now."
I loathe it even more now. I object to photo-shopping. Why is this terrible annual tradition in place?
"Breydon, sweetie, smile." my mother urged me to grin. I think she caught me furrowing my brows. I followed her advice, grinned, and really promised myself that I would eat a lot of food following this uncomfortable photo shoot.
"And.. done! What a gorgeous family!"
Finally. It's finished. I headed straight for the dining area. I heard myself being called by Bentley.
"Hey, check out our hazelnut dacquoise!" he exclaimed when we saw the food on the table.
I gave a nod, "Should we eat now?" I sat down in the chair and questioned.
"We must wait for them," Bryce replied as he took a seat. He placed the table napkin on his lap with grace.
"But I'm hungry!" I protested. I am really hungry! I want to eat now!
"Patience, Breydon." the older brother uttered.
Bentley laughed while I rolled my eyes.
"They're still talking, so can we eat first?" I asked, glancing at my parents. Mom and Dad are still in the living room, having a conversation with the photographer.
"No."
I rolled my eyes once more. I really can't stand him. How is he my older brother?
"Mom! Can we eat now?!" I finally blurted out. Softly.
They all turned to look at us. I immediately sat up straight when Dad fixed his gaze on me. He was giving me a stern look.
'What did I do wrong? I just want to eat!'
"Go ahead, sweetie," Mom said, making me grin.
Yes! At last!
"Always so stubborn," Bryce muttered under his breath, but I ignored him, focused on my fried chicken.
After a while, our parents joined us. Mom was chatting about the upcoming short vacation in Baguio, where we have a resort.
"What's the point, Katherine? They're just kids; they'll play in the water and get tanned. They'd be better off reading their books and studying."
Hearing that made me sad. I want to go to the resort and play in the water!
"They need a break, Vaughn. Just let them have it," Mom said, gently stroking Dad's hand.
I almost rolled my eyes. What's that supposed to mean?
"Mom's right, Dad. We need a break," Bryce added. Since he's the 'favorite son,' Dad quickly changed his mind.
The next day, we headed to Baguio. I've almost memorized the route; we're always here, just like we often go to Madrid and Barcelona.
"Is that a strawberry farm?" I asked Bentley, peering out the car window.
