A/N: The song made the author bawl her eyes out, so pardon the song🤣

“ALRIGHT! Then I'll dare myself! I dare to make you smile, Letoile! I vow, from this day forward, I will make you mine!”

ALRIGHT! Then I'll dare myself! I dare to make you smile, Letoile! I vow, from this day forward, I will make you mine!”

David’s declaration of challenge in Raquey resonated in his memories as he paced around the headquarters, walking restlessly by an open window from which the winds and the natural light seeped in.

He had contemplated his feelings ever since his heart moved when Letoile smiled and laughed yesterday. Come to think of it, he had always admired Letoile. Maybe as a Magic Knight or a comrade, maybe as a friend, or maybe as a woman.

Maybe it was the last one.

She was unique, extraordinary; standing out among any other women in his eyes, even though she did so little effort. She could do the bare minimum and it would still awe him. Her stoic and stern demeanor caught his eye, contradicting other women who were playful and feminine and romantic. They tend to lean and look for men who could save and protect them—just like a knight in shining armor—but Letoile had proven almost every time that she didn't need that.

Her strong independence outshone them, and he found it fascinating about her.

He leaned at the frame of the window, placing his chin on his palm.

He’d always been fond of teasing her because her reaction was a delightful sight in his eyes. He first treated it as a game which entertained him, not until he realized that his bantering jokes were now becoming real. God, he even thought about risking his fragile little heart just for her.

Maybe it wasn't a game anymore.

Nor was it pure admiration.

Maybe he liked her—

No. David shook his head. I truly like her.

He brushed his hair in frustration as he paced around the hallways again, thinking about her—what he’d say to her—and it was driving him crazy. There was an uneasy feeling brewing in his chest, much like a wild animal gnawing on it to escape, or a dormant volcano that woke up and threatened to erupt.
