End of the World Pt. 2
A/N: I'm so sorry for the almost two weeks delay! Uni is so stressful lately, it's consuming my life rn really (I chose pre-med so it's my fault lol). Nothing could stop me from finishing Everdawn despite college overload. Updates are gonna be slow tho!
I also must remind you that William and Solene will barely interact PHYSICALLY in this arc (bcs I noticed she's hanging out with Langris more since Bonds of Dawn arc lol but I gotta compensate for his lack of exposure in literally majority of the story), with the obvious reasons that Solene is still a Magic Knight bound to her duties despite defying her captain's orders and William is literally the cornerstone of the kingdom, so if he leaves Yggdrasil uhm... we all dead ig??

"WILL WE still be able to go back to Arandom Village after all this... chaos going on?" Theron asked, holding Wren's arm as he faced his daughter with Langris beside her.
"I assure you, Father. Once we defeat the Forsythes, you'll be able to return. As much as I want you to stay there, I fear that our hometown is the prime target for their next attack." Solene ruffled her son's hair gently, pressing a soft kiss on his forehead. "For the meantime, I want you to stay here in Hecairo with the other villagers. You will be safe here until everything is settled."
"Solene Amberdawn!" A vaguely familiar male voice called her. A man in his forties, with tanned skin and a hairy beard, greeted her with a wide smile. "It is nice to see you again. About the bracelet I gave you... I didn't know."
"Bryn Marron." She greeted back. "Don't think about that anymore. The Eclipstone was destroyed years ago. Anyway, I'm very thankful that you took my people in your refuge."
"It's the least we could do after you saved our town from the Forsythes. Your family is very welcome in my home." He glanced towards Langris and bowed before leaving with Theron and Wren.
"Don't you think it would be safer if you brought them to the Yggdrasil instead?" Langris asked her, worry lining between his eyebrows. "Solene, you and Lord Vangeance are already married. How long are you gonna keep his son away from him?"
"This is not the right time for that, Langris," she said, her voice low as she followed Wren with her eyes. "But soon, he will meet his son. Just not... yet. And when the time comes," she looked at him, "I trust that you will be the one to tell the story."
The lines on his eyebrows deepened. "Why are you saying it like you're gonna die or something? I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to know that I got to know his son before he, the father himself, did. So you go ahead and do that instead."
Solene could only sigh as Wren and Theron fully vanished from her sight.
I wish I could, Langris.

THE AIR SLICED Solene's lungs when she and Langris landed on Hecairo. The temperature was freezing as if frost was consuming them whole, including their organs. People were screaming left and right, bypassing them as they ran for their lives. Multiple bodies splayed on the ground in the central plaza.
The once great city in the Common Realm was now reduced to rubble, meeting its downfall in the hands of creatures that were too terrifying for this world.
"How are we going to find your family in this chaos?" Langris asked, checking a nearby body to see if he was still alive—but found no pulse.
"We need to find Bryn. He must know where they are; they were staying with him, right?" She replied, panic hitting her voice.
