IT HAD BEEN ONE YEAR since Patry left William's body for good. Ever since he shared a body with the elf when he was nine, he finally felt like there was someone he could cling onto—someone he could confide in. But he knew it was not enough. Having a friend couldn't fill the void in his heart nor give peace in his restless soul. Hearing Patry's constant voice in his mind was often deafening, but now—at last—everything was quiet. Now, Solene had filled the missing piece of the incomplete puzzle of his heart.
William stood, gazing from the glass door of his balcony. It was a Sunday morning, and the winter season had officially come into the kingdom. He imagined the Clover citizens rushing in the snow, childrens throwing snowballs at each other, making snowmen and snow angels, rolling down a hill that had been covered with these cold clouds, or skating over the frozen lakes. The winter activities were endless, and William could even smell the sweet scent of hot chocolate in the air, freshly made from cocoa, picturing the puff of air that came out of him as the smoke that rose from its cup.
Winter holidays were one of the things that everyone looked forward to. He gave permission to his squad members to take this break and go home to their families, spending time with them for Christmas.
For him though, the Golden Dawn was his home. Well—perhaps before. Now, he had someone he could call his home, and whenever she went, there he would be also.
Speaking of his home, she hadn't seen him today. She would always pay him a visit every morning, with that adorable smile on her face—one that was brighter than the sun—and drag him down the corridors to the dining hall to eat breakfast with others.
In fact, he was waiting for her to show up at this moment.
Uneasy, he went out of his office. His room was cold, and he figured that he should've put a hearth on it to warm the room—because winter in the Clover Kingdom was now rivaling that of the Spade Kingdom—so he had to make one or else he'd be the one getting skated on by the children on the lake.
