SOLENE WAS WATCHING the birds fly across the sky that afternoon. There were only a few hours before sundown as the clouds started to mix tinges of pink and orange; the sun being its painter. She thought of watching it from the top of a hill with William, but for some reason, he had been absent from her eyes the entire day. He didn't come to her at all—neither did the rest of her friends. She came to ponder on it, looking for some changes in the headquarters, but everything—everyone—seemed to be in their normal day. So where were they? Where was William?
Her mind was on him the whole day as she looked at the snowcapped hills from afar, now slowly melting as spring approached. The snow reminded her of William's hair, white and soft, and now the sky reminded her of his eyes which were now blending into a bright purple color. If not seeing him for a day brought great impact on her heart, then what would become of her when she was separated from him for a long time? Could she bear that?
I miss him. I miss him. I miss him—
A sparrow landed on the windowsill, its head cocking to the side and its big black eyes intently studying her.
"Hello, little one. Have you come to visit me?" She chuckled, knowing that William was overly fond of birds. William. Always William.
She noticed that a small roll of parchment was carried by its gray beak. Slowly she retrieved it, opening it to reveal a note written by someone with familiar stylish handwriting.
Meet me at our serenitasia tree when the moon rises. You need not to worry about your wardrobe. Someone will come and give you a dress that will only belong to the most exquisite woman in the whole kingdom, and that is you, Sunbeam.
P.S: I must inform you that I specifically asked for a custom-made dress, one that I imagine you'd wear one day when you are finally mine. Forgive me if it is not your cup of tea. You can wear anything else if you are not comfortable with it.
P.P.S: Though I do not think I would be able to breathe when I see you wear it.
