We are Spectra Pt. 16

A/N: I don't know how many of you are anticipating getting to this moment in the book. I'm not really the kind of author who writes something spicy like this chapter but uhm—I think this is somewhat bound to happen alright? 😭

And if you're not comfortable with it, you can just move on. Y'all don't have to worry about it.

Even I thought if I should just make this chapter brief, but if this is the only time I'm going to write a chili 🌶️ about WilSol, then I figured I should go ahead and dedicate a chapter to it and go wild with what I can write.

So buckle your seatbelts! It's about to get reeeeaaaaally hot in here.

SPECTRA IS A KIND OF MAGIC that is unknown to many, and is said to be commonly wielded by realms’ rulers.

The Heavens called it “The Gift of Chaos” because they believed that Chaos manifested this power to show others that he is still the beginning of the Universe thus, the one who controls everything.

The Underworld called it the “Curse of the Fates” because whoever possesses this power, will have control over destiny. It is considered a curse for even the fates do not have the power over beings who wield it. That is why the King of the Gods is the only being able to control the fates.

In the mortal realms, it is not called anything until the Cloverian King named it “Spectra” and probably wrote it in the book.

What if the rulers of the realms were in the Clover Kingdom after all, the ones who wielded the magic they call Spectra, powerful beings who now stood side by side in the balcony of an office—drinking slumberpetal tea as they stared at the midnight sky?

After they exited the Spectral Gardens, the duskveil serving as a mist covering the floating islands seemed to swallow them, making them vanish. As the clock ticked midnight, it was gone, appearing again next year.

“This is probably the best day of my life,” Solene said as she finished drinking her cup, exhaling in the air. “I have never experienced a romantic date, much less in a magical floating garden.”

“Same as I,” William said, contentment evident in his voice.

Together, they gazed at the sky, looking as the field of stars scattered—some very far away, some seemingly quite near—the full moon glimmered, and the midnight wind cold yet soothing.

William turned to his lover, reaching for his pocket. “Sol? I have something to give you.”

He retrieved a small, ornate box, making Solene gasp. “A present for me? Will, I'm sorry, I do not have such a thing to give you in return!”

“Don't worry about it.” He smiled. “Here, open it.”

Her heart must have burst at this moment as she opened the box. Inside was a hair ornament shaped like a phoenix feather crafted from a rare enchanted metal that flickered like fire whenever it sensed Solene's magic.

She lifted it carefully in the air, her eyes wide.

“It reacts to your Flame Magic,” William explained. “It is like how you bring warmth to everything around you.”

She was momentarily speechless, her heat radiating off her skin that spread across the balcony. Then, with a soft, teasing smile, she looked at him again.
