Chapter LXXIII: End of the World

End of the World Pt. 7

A/N: Whew I'm getting emotional writing the end of this arc. There were many times when I've thought of discontinuing this story but decided not to over and over because I want to write this very moment (and the next chapter). Everdawn was built for this moment, and I still can't believe it took two years to reach this lol.

Next chap is the end of EOTW arc I promise. The last arc will only consist of two chapters as resolution to the story.

"WILLIAM!" Solene screamed as she scrambled to her feet, every step heavier than the last as she reached for his body that was hoisted up by his own roots.

How can this happen? Why did his own magic kill him?

She shoved the incoming thoughts as she wiped the tears away, instantly pouring out again however. She removed his body from the roots, setting it gently on the ground. She caressed his cheek as her tears dropped on William's beautiful face, which looked peaceful, albeit the blood dripping from his mouth.

"Who did this to you?!" She screamed, her cries filling the air, and the sky responded in return.

"Wake up, William..." she whispered, clutching onto his body, cradling him as if he'd be taken away from her at any moment. "Don't leave me, please... I can't bear to live without you. Not you too. Not when Sophia has—" she let out a hiccup as she sobbed once more, her eyes now sore.

"I will not forgive them... whoever did this to you," she said, her voice turning dark.

"He did it to himself."

Solene glanced at her side upon hearing her own voice. Her figure walked towards her, and her face twisted with hatred, pure, black hatred, when she realized who it was.

"I cannot kill him even by using you against him," Jinn said, her voice emotionless. Ruthless. "So I used my magic to make him kill himself."

"How. Dare. You." Solene felt her anger boiling, rising, like the World End Volcano she had cast earlier. Her core was skyrocketing in temperature, her skin magma itself. Jinn only grinned, which made her emotions surge even more.

"As I said. You do not need him. The Wizard King will only be your weakness, Solene Amberdawn."

"My name is Solene. Vangeance!" She roared, her eyes now turning gold as she turned her head towards her. She let go of William's body, walking towards Jinn with a fiery look on her face. The mind wielder took several steps back, sweat pouring from her forehead from the heat that emanated from Solene's skin. "You killed my husband!"

"His death is absolutely necessary," Jinn explained. "Well, I have warned you about this years ago, Solene. I warned you that being with William Vangeance would be the cause of you unleashing the prophecy. It is what I saw... the future I saw is unfolding at this moment, and his death would be the final trigger—"

"You are in no position to control my life—my fate!"

"You are a pawn of Dawn. You cannot escape the fact that you are meant to be the bane of the Clover Kingdom, the—"

"Shut. Up!" Solene screamed as her head seared in excruciating pain. She clutched her hair, feeling as if she'd be succumbing to madness at any moment. The pain split her mind into fragments, and in those fragments were memories overlapping with many voices from different people—all at once—and now it mixed with the emotions gnawing inside her, like a beast threatening to escape.
