Ruler of All Realms Pt. 6

DEAR SOLENE,

You know what I feel for you.

I know that you just see me as a friend, and I respect that. You and Wren are very special to me, like my second family. And just like you, I would always prioritize your lives—especially your son. I have no problem stepping up on the responsibility Lord Vangeance should have, because I trust your judgment. I will always follow you, Solene, and I am glad you see that.

Thank you for trusting me one secret. You know it kinda feeds my ego that I’m the only one who knows your secret you showed me last night in the Mistwood Forest. You are able to wield the same Mist that only Jinn Forsythe and Morgrim Nightshade possess, and even though you don’t tell exactly what you are, I know that you are somehow like them, yet you chose to protect the kingdom instead of going with them. I hope your Mist and Flame Magic along with my Spatial Magic are enough to disorient the enemies in the forest. It’s not enough to fully protect it and your village we once called home, but I hope it buys us time to spare the Wizard King’s Ball.

You told me you can’t, at all costs, be with William. You might not know, but anyone can notice the invisible burden you carry on your shoulders. If you want to confide in someone who will not judge you or reveal your secret, I am always here. Honestly, you shouldn’t have told him not to allow the Adria squad in the ball, because I could’ve gone with you as your partner, well, just to piss him off. Me and Mira are evacuating your family, Klaus and David with the squad, to Hecairo. It should be sufficient for the meantime, but they have to get away from the eastern border as much as possible. Don’t worry, I’m keeping Wren safe. Once I confirm they’re going to be fine, just say the word, and I’ll ignore the Wizard King’s order and come to the ball.

Reply as soon as possible.

Always,
Langris

DEAR LANGRIS,

I don’t want to hurt your feelings with me. But William is hosting a dangerous game he does not know the consequences of, and I’m scared to be defeated. Perhaps, if we make it look like we’re in love with each other he’d give up, so please Langris…

Come to the Wizard King’s Ball and help me push him away.

Sincerely,
Solene

DEAR SOLENE,

Gladly. Anything for you.

Langris

WILLIAM HELD another council the morning before the Wizard King’s Ball at night. The distance between him and Solene was palpable. They did not do so much as to steal glances in each other’s way nor did they speak.

Solene once again presented the summary of her findings: people are being taken, but not killed. The forests and ley lines’ mana were being redirected downward instead of destroying it, and Sylvanus sensed that the Underworld was active again because of it.

The Forsythes were only targeting the peasants and commoners. Not the nobles, not the royals.

The council ended with William reminding the captains about the ball and sending Alecdora to put out reminders on the noble families.
