Ruler of All Realms Pt. 8
JINN LOOKED up at Yggdrasil's gigantic roots spread on the ceiling of the spiky rocks pointing downwards at the realm underneath it—the Underworld. The area she was in was beneath dead roots older than Yggdrasil, coated with Mist that made it impossible for the Wizard King to know exactly what they were doing there.
With Yggdrasil alive, William had access to every realm, including the divine realms of the heavens and the Land of the Dead, which made it difficult for her to move her plan for the last four years. She had to be extra careful, or he would've caught her a long time ago.
But he wouldn't. Not ever. For her mind was greater than anyone else's. No one could outwit her.
She stood before humongous chains, rattling loudly as it reverberated across the pit she was in. Her hand gripped tighter around Morgrim's staff, the one she had taken after she killed him. Fear was abandoned a long time ago, as with her humanity. All that was left of her was ruthlessness and the insatiable need to destroy, and with the monstrous creature before her-she knew it was all she needed to fulfill them.
"You are the creature from the prophecy of that man," she said, conversing with it so casually as if just meeting with a long lost friend. "I have heard about it from my goddess. You are the Devourer of Roots destined to destroy the World Tree and its King. You and I have the same objective here. With the gates of the realms opened now, you are no longer bound to these chains, for I will set you free. Go and fulfill the prophecy, Nidhogg."
Steam erupted from its nostrils, blowing it against her, its red eyes flaring brightly with bloodthirsty hate. "I do not answer to you, human."
Jinn was taken aback for a second before letting out a calm chuckle. "I am not here for you to answer me. But as I have said, we have the same goal here: the Clover Kingdom. I will help you kill William Vangeance if you help me destroy the entire kingdom. And you cannot refuse, aren't you? Only I have the power to free you." She lifted her staff up.
Nidhogg bared its fangs towards her, each tooth sharpened like swords. Jinn swung her head slightly to the other direction, not wanting to breathe its foul breath of sulfur, blood, and decay.
With a slow, growling voice he responded. "Very well. I accept your offer. Now set me free at once, Raijinn Forsythe."
She grinned as a huge bright orb erupted from her staff, illuminating the entire pit as the ground rumbled beneath them. Red magic spread from her feet to Nidhogg's chains, and with a loud clang, the chains had been broken, and the dragon let out a raucous roar that made the entire Underworld tremble.
She looked up again at William's roots.
I already know what you did, Solene, for I have foreseen it.
You chose love.
You chose him.
You chose yourself.
Jinn once gave her a choice, a path to tread that convinced Solene she could avoid the prophecy if she stayed away from William.
Now that Solene made her own destiny by coming back to him again, there wasn't an inch or rage inside Jinn that she had defied what she suggested.
A curve lined on her lips. It was all she ever wanted to happen.
"So you chose your own ending," she murmured. "Then I will make sure the world pays for it."
You had set the Dawnbringer Prophecy in stone, Solene.
