Valerie was kneeling on the ground as Hunter's flashlight flickered to life. Everyone was working on getting themselves situated. Everyone was coughing up the dust as the debris around them groaned. Batcher nudged a Rex who was laying face down on the ground. He moaned and slowly pushed himself up.
Omega moved and helped him sit up. "Rex!" She exclaimed.
"Thanks." Rex said. Crosshair also helped him up with Omega.
"Valerie, are you alright?" Rickshaw helped her up and looked her over.
"I'm alright." Valerie said and looked at the others. "What now?"
"We need to get moving before their reinforcements get here." Hunter said to Rex. "Is there another way off this spire?"
Rex chuckled. "There's always another way." He moved towards the back of the room and kicked back a box revealing a hidden passageway.
Valerie chuckled. "Rex, I've missed working with you." Wrecker moved the boxes completely out of the way while Batcher sniffed the exit. Once she deemed it safe, everyone started climbing down.
They all made it to the spiral staircase. Crosshair and Omega looked out the window. "Our leech vessel is docked about ten levels down." Rex said.
"A leech vessel?" Valerie questioned.
"Doesn't have a hyperdrive though." Howzer added. "We won't get far."
"No, but we can use it to contact Echo." Rex said. Valerie looked above them. "What is it?" Rex asked.
"That mysterious shadow clone is still alive." She said, still staring at the ceiling.
"Best keep moving then." Rex said. Valerie looked at the others and everyone started running down the stairs.
The group made it a few levels down when Valerie skidded to a stop. "Everyone get down!" She ordered and they all listened to her and crouched. An explosion caused the building to shake. Once the building settled, everyone stood up.
"The ship's docked just down this corridor." Rex said.
"Wait." Valerie paused behind the group. Crosshair was looking around as well.
"What is it?" Nemec asked.
Crosshair walked to the window but even at this point everyone could hear the distant sounds of footsteps rising. "They're coming." He stated.
That same feeling was gnawing in the back of her head, the mysterious shadow clone was after them. "Crosshair get back!" Valerie yelled right as Crosshair looked up at the falling dust particles. The shadow clone fired his blaster.
Everyone took cover. "I'll handle it." Crosshair said.
"Crosshair-" Omega went to protest.
"Take her." Crosshair cut her off and looked at Valerie. She nodded and grabbed Omega's arm, pulling her with the rest of the group. Crosshair turned and started firing back at the shadow clone.
Rex ran to a door, unlocking it and it opened. Revealing another door to their vessel. The group ran inside of it but Wrecker waited for Crosshair who wasn't too far behind.
"We need to go." Crosshair said as he ran by Wrecker.
"We're waitin' on you." Wrecker rebutted.
"He's still alive." Valerie stated and Crosshair just looked at her.
Valerie and Omega sat in the seats next to each other. Omega had grabbed the backpack that was sitting on the chair. Nemec sat in front of Omega, taking off his helmet. Batcher eagerly jumped into Nemec's lap and licked his face, causing the clone to flinch.
