"Come on, don't keep me hanging." She said, making me look between her and her hand.
Nah.
We can't.
"Rose, right?" She asked.
I nodded.
"Friends?"
"Um, I think it is best we remain just classmates."
She raised her brows.
I nodded.
She scoffed. "Hateful, much."
"No. It is not being hateful. I just...."
"Oh, I get it now. My boyfriend is your bully. Being friends with your bully's girlfriend is weird. He bullies you because he doesn't like you. I should support him."
What?
"Being friends with you is actually weird. What am I thinking?" She asked, chuckling.
I stared at her.
"It's okay. I am fine just being classmates. See you around, Rose." She said, walking past me and then out the door.
"Wow."
So much for being nice.

AT THE CAFETERIA,
"She really said that?" Joey asked as I took in a spoonful of my meal.
I nodded.
"Are you sure?"
I scoffed. "Why would I lie about such a thing? She is no different from the others. She was just faking being nice."
"Geez," Joey said.
"She wants to support CJ in bullying me. Do you know how weird that sounds?" I asked.
He nodded. "It sounds like a bitch."
"Precisely," I supported.
He scoffed. "I can't believe her. Now I see why Leila called her a cheap slut. Just a few days of their relationship and she is already protective of her man." He said, drawing a quote on the air.
I shook my head as I sipped my juice.
"What made her think you were interested in CJ?" He asked.
I shrugged. "CJ was being the monster that he is to me. She saw us and thought we were about to make out."
Joey suppressed his laughter.
"It is laughable."
He burst into laughter. "Why would you want to make out with CJ?"
"Seriously. Why would I?"
"He is nothing but a bully to you. We recently became best friends, but I am sure you wouldn't want to have anything to do with CJ. Not after all he did to you."
"Preach." I said.
He chuckled.
"I really need to avoid him. I don't want him anywhere near me. Especially when he knows I am..." I paused, looking at my food.
"Knows what?" He asked.
"He knows I am dating an older man," I whispered.
"SHUT UP!"
"Shhhh, Joey." I whispered, looking around the full cafeteria. Everyone is minding their business.
I looked back at Joey. He leaned closer.
