"Oh, hey honey. You are back." Mum said as I locked eyes with Mr Caesar.
"Welcome home, sweetie," she said.
"Welcome, Rose," he said.
I gave him a dead stare.
I seriously can't believe he is here.
"Your boss decided to stop by. Did you know he is hilarious?" Mum asked, chuckling.
Mr Caesar smiled and sipped his drink.
"He is the most hilarious being I have ever met." Mum said.
"Oh no, I am not." Mr Caesar said, smiling.
"You are to me." Mum said.
"What are you doing here?" The question rushed out of my mouth.
Mr Caesar looked at me.
"Honey, why are you...."
"I didn't know he was coming, mum." I retorted, making my mum furrow her brows.
"I understand, but you don't have to be rude. He is our guest. He is always welcome here."
"Thank you, ma'am." Mr Caesar said, smiling and adding to my anger and frustration.
"No, no. It is Claudia. Stop with the ma'am, please. I beg you. You make me feel old. But you are older." Mum said.
"Well, you look younger to me. And very beautiful too. Rose here got it from you." He said, looking at me with a smile.
I clenched my books as mum chuckled.
"I have to change," I said, walking away before my mum could say anything else.
"Rose, honey," I heard her call, but I kept walking till I got into my room.
I closed the door behind me and rested my back on the door.
I let out a frustrated breath.
Why is he doing this?
What is he up to for pit's sake?
I have to put a stop to this. I don't care if he gives us a new house and a car. We were doing fine before he came into my life and ruined it.
I walked towards my bed and dropped my bag. I stripped and headed towards the bathroom. I took a fast shower and walked out of the bathroom.
I dried myself, took out a dress from the closet, put it on and headed out.
He is still laughing with my mum.
"There you are, sweetie. That was fast changing." Mum said.
I didn't say a word but stared at Mr Caesar.
"I will go and get your lunch." Mum said, getting on her feet.
"Thank you, mum." I said as she walked towards the kitchen.
I folded my hands as I stared at Mr Caesar.
He dropped his glass on the table and got on his feet.
"I see you don't want to see my face." He said as he buttoned his suit jacket.
"I have been singing it like a song, but you have refused to listen," I said.
He nodded. "I understand." He said, looking at me.
My heart raced, but I forced myself to look away.
"You look beautiful."
I scoffed internally.
