ROSE

That was fast. How did we get here so fast? I looked around and I saw other people walking towards the trains with tickets in their hands.

That was really fast. I guess the salesperson decided to hasten up and not waste everyone's time.

That's a good thinking.

"Here you go," the salesperson said, handing over the tickets to my mum. She paid him and we walked away, heading towards a particular train.

"Here's yours," mum said, handing me a ticket which I collected from her. We got closer to the train, she moved aside, urging me to get into the train first. I did and she followed me behind.

We walked along the pathway, searching for our seats.

Everyone are seated on their various seats. The train is not really filled up but it has quite a number of people.

I looked down at my ticket to know my seat number. It is seat number sixteen. Mum could be seventeen or fifteen since she bought the tickets together.

Getting towards the seat number sixteen, it is next to the window. I felt excited instantly as I sat on it. Mum sat on the opposite seat facing me and also next to the the windows like mine.

Her seat number is seventeen as I predicted. She sat on it, heaving a fulfilled sigh.

She grinned at me. I smiled at her.

"Finally, baby. We are leaving." She sang, chuckling. I chuckled as well, matching her energy a bit. I don't want her to know that I am not as happy as she is. She focused her gaze on her bag and took out her tiny notebook. Opening it, she read out something.

"Once we stopped at train station in New York, we will board a cab that will take us directly to your father's mansion." She said, looking up from her notebook.

"Did you hear that?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Your father's mansion. He has a mansion, baby. Aren't excited?" She asked, her eyes lightening up.

I nodded. "I am excited."

She chuckled. "He is super rich. We are no longer going to live the life of hardship. We will live with your father and you will attend a prestigious school. Our lives will be perfect!" She said happily.

I nodded, smiling.

The train made that familiar loud sound, piercing into my ears.

Oh jingles.

"We are leaving," she sang happily, moving her shoulders slightly. I chuckled at her usual way of showing excitement like a kid.

I love seeing her like this.

The train began to move slowly.

"Oh, fasten your seat belt, baby." She said, pointing at the belt connected to my seat. I looked down, reached for the belt.

I looked at her, she is busy with hers. I did mine exactly the way she did hers.

I relaxed on the seat, looking out the windows. We are actually leaving.

I am going to miss this town. I will miss home. It is the only place I know as home. But I am going to a new home now. A home with my dad.

Thinking about it now, I am kinda happy. I will have my mum and dad with me. I feel excited now.

Then I have the new school. Sighing, I rested my gaze on the window, watching the trees and vegetations as we drove pass. The train has just moved from a slow pace to a fast one.
