Everyone murmured.
No, no. Not CJ, please!
I totally forgot about him.
Why didn't he get a different role?
How does he want me to cope with CJ?!
I looked towards CJ's direction. He doesn't even look perturbed about this. He is just seated there and pressing his phone nonchalantly.
Oh God.
No, please!
I looked at Joey. He is looking at me with worry.
"That's all. I believe no one was left out, right?" The teacher asked, making me look at him.
God, I wish I could protest or....or change my role.
But I want to be Juliet!
Urgh!!! Why?!
Through the corner of my eye, I saw someone raising her hand. I looked in the direction, I saw Jane raising her hand.
"Yes, Miss Carmen?" The teacher asked.
"We all accept CJ as Romeo in the play, but I believe that I speak for the class when I say that Rose is not suitable for Juliet's role." Jane said, making almost all the class support her.
I heaved a sigh.
Joey scoffed. "I believe you speak for yourself, not so plain Jane, but jealousy lame Jane."
"Whoo!!!" Everyone exclaimed and chuckled. Leila was the loudest.
Jane scowled at Joey.
"Alright, silence, Class." The teacher ordered.
Everyone remained calm.
"As much as I hate to admit it, sir, Jane is right. That low-class girl is not suitable for the role. Maybe you should reconsider, sir." Leila said.
I heard Joey scoff.
"First, stop with the names, Miss George." The teacher said, making Leila roll her eyes.
"And secondly, class. There is no need to be jealous."
"Uh, the girls are, sir. We dudes don't have women's problems. We literally don't care who plays Romeo." Zach said, making the other boys support him.
Except for CJ. He still looks unperturbed. Isn't he listening to all this?
Or does he want to be my Romeo?
God, I sound weird.
Wait, is this part of his plan to deal with it like he said he would?
My heart dropped.
Oh no.
"I understand. Girls, don't be jealous. Rose's video was excellent. She is perfect for the role." The teacher said, smiling.
My heart fluttered.
Oh Jingles!
"She will do a great job. And along with CJ, who also did an excellent job, I believe this year's play will be the best one yet!" The teacher said, ruining my mood.
Good lord.
Everyone murmured. They still don't support this.
I mean, the girls don't. I don't either.
But I can't step down. I want to act.
I have always wanted to.
What am I going to do?!
