Dodie Angeletti yawned as she flipped the channels on her wall mounted hospital tv from one banally boring show to another.
Boring.
Hideous.
It was all such a waste of time. Her time. She was getting tired of being trapped in this one hospital room. Being tired of people feeding her ridiculous lies about her. She was not thirty six. She was only sixteen. She was not married to Tony and the mother of any kids. She hated kids. Always had. Why would she have any ? She was the daughter of Franco Giadello , the most powerful man she knew, yet they refused to let her see him for some reason. She didn't understand why her brother and mother kept telling this lie , all these lies , about her but once Daddy got there it would all stop. It would all stop and they would pay.
Daddy would make sure of that, she mused as she landed upon news. She made a face at the television. She hated news. Such a boring waste of space. Daddy said reporters were stupid and only parroted lies to serve someone's purpose. Usually the government. They certainly told enough lies about Daddy and the family.
Before she flipped the remote to another channel she saw the too perky too enthusiastic reporter in the God awful ugly green dress begin talking about the son of Judge Richard Norland being rushed to the hospital after a medical crisis as they called it. Her face soured as she saw the picture of the judge with his smug classical good looks and Ivy League bearing in the picture they showed on the screen. She didn't know that man but just seeing his face inspired such pure dislike in her for him.
Then they started yammering about how he had been in charge of the case for......
Wait......
For......
For her ?
She widened her eyes in outrage at the tv. Then she picked up the cell phone next to her on her food tray table and looked up her mother's number to dial it swiftly.
It rang several times before the woman finally answered.
" Dodie? Are you okay? "
Dodie rolled her eyes over the fake concern in the woman's voice. Who was she caring? All Glory Giadello cared about was Alfred. Not her. All she had was Daddy really. Daddy loved her. That was all mattered to her.
" Why are the idiots on the news saying I was on trial? What trial , Momma ? ," she demanded to know. " What's really going on ? And, where exactly is my father? "
