Episode 111

Almost as soon as Keisha Duncan's cafe Sista Brews in downtown Hyattsville near the mall opened that morning one of the first customers there sitting at a small table by the large picture window was Richard Norland and his former wife Tania Kaye.  The uncomfortable looking exes took their time ordering from a male server in a white cotton button down shirt and black jeans ( coffee spiced lightly with nutmeg and cinnamon for Richard , mint tea and a cranberry muffin for Tania ) before Richard chose to look at the woman he had once thought fondly of and considered a friend of sorts , saying," Thank you for meeting me this morning. Tomorrow would have been difficult for me as I am returning to work. And , thank you for not bringing Wilson. It is most appreciated. "

Tania tried to fight back a sudden grin at his last words. She had forgotten how witty her ex could be. It was his most winning trait actually. His rather droll sense of humor. It had been what had drew them together once upon a time.

( " You would be even more handsome if you smiled ," Tania said as she came over to the stern faced man in the well cut expensive three piece suit at the Virginia bistro and sat on his lap , startling him immensely.

" Excuse me, ma'am....."

" No excuses needed, kind sir ," she said right before she claimed his astonished lips in a bold impulsive kiss. )

" You know, my husband is not as annoying as you think he is, darling. "

Richard smirked as the server delivered their orders. He nodded at the man , saying," Thank you very much. " Then he returned his focus to her and said," I don't know that. I don't know that at all. "

Tania sighed. " Wilson just cares about our son. Just like Nigel does. "

He took a small tentative sip of his hot coffee. " Yes but Nigel has been there. He is entitled to....."

" Be annoying? "

Richard sat back in his chair and thinned his lips at her. She was so used to that face. She had seen that face many times during their marriage. Like when he had caught her with the lawn boy and the pool man. She sipped at her muffin and felt a regret for her past action. " I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. I know your Nigel means well. Tania sighed. Wilson had not wanted her to come today but she had meditated on it all last night when they returned from the therapy session and again in the morning. She adored Wilson but most times he overreacted but mainly due to the fact that he did care tremendously. He just didn't know how to show it. In a way he reminded her of her ex-husband who she once had loved so much before it went bad. Ok , she acknowledged, before she made it go bad with her cheating. Although he had helped with his obsession with work and money and being the best. Wilson was much the same. He was so unhappy after being laid off from the company. He did not enjoy working as a professor. His aura had been so dark since they had returned. If there was something she could do to help him. Help them all.

" I'm not perfect either," she murmured. " I made my share of mistakes. But my helper spirits showed me a better way today. "

Richard hid his twitching lips with his own hand. In a way he had missed Tania. He didn't want to be married to her anymore but he missed her.

Richard laughed. " I'm not gay. I'm bisexual. But yes I also did love you at one time. "
