" I'm so sorry," Nigel said with tears rolling down his face as he sat beside his husband's hospital bed. " This is all my fault. I should have left that day. I should never have married you. You would be better off. "

Richard shook his head at him and reached out to pull the younger man close to him in spite of his IV.  He kissed the top of his head. "Do not talk nonsense. I would not be better off without you. Neither would any of the children. And this was not your fault. I spoke to Hillie Pierce and she is appealing this decision. She is claiming and rightfully that A.R. did not act in our son's best interest. It's not what I want , this decision , but it could have been worse. At least he'll be with Dad and Glory. You know they'll let us see him anytime we want. I love you. I don't care about your past."

Nigel clung to him harder than ever before. " I love you too. "

But , down deep , Nigel knew he would never ever forgive himself for what happened today in court.

" This is your fault ," Tania said sharply as she sat in the passenger side of their car driving back home. " Your fault. Wilson , we should have just worked with Richard from the very beginning. But no. You always have to win the whole pie. "

She wiped her eyes which were filling with tears.

Wilson glanced over at his wife. Then he carefully looked back at the road ahead. " You wanted this as much as me. Don't you put this on me. It's not my fault. Anyway, Edward said he is appealing. And , I'm sure the grandfather will not make trouble with us seeing him. He looks.... rational. "

They sat in silence for a few minutes until Wilson spoke again, saying," I got a job offer from Dennis Electronics. Full time. Nice benefits. Project lead on a new upcoming game. It's actually a honor working for Zipp Dennis. He's a legend in the industry. Heard he had a kidney transplant. "

Tania smiled slightly as she kept looking out the passenger side window. " I took a pregnancy test today. It was positive. "

A.R. sighed as she sat behind her desk looking through another case file. " Mother, these types of disputes are always difficult. A proper judge must examine them with reasonable rational non biased eyes and do what is best for the child. It's not as easy as teaching English like you did once. "

Alice Rose shook her head. " I raised you better. You're so cold lately. So unhappy. Richard and Nigel are good people who care for the children. And , you can't hold a person's past against them. Can you imagine if someone held my past against me? Or yours against you? "

A.R. closed the folder sharply. " Mother, I'm quite busy. Could you please leave? Why don't you go pay that husband of yours a visit? Or possibly Scooter ? Goodbye. "
