The Washington Reign Obituaries
Jonah John Simms , 40
Jonah Simms , of Hyattsville, Maryland in Prince George's County, departed from this earthly state of a very tragic and unforseen massive heart attack while at work.
Mr. Simms was the younger son of Harmony of Faith Baptist Church Reverend Dr. Cyrus Simms and his wife Mrs. Alberta Goode Simms of Landover. He is survived by his beloved grief stricken wife LuLu Benson Simms and his three infant daughters Pearl, Sapphire and Ruby Simms of Hyattsville. He is also survived by his older brother Marcus Simms, a lawyer and junior partner at Lowen Esquire Services, of Arlington, Virginia as well as an older sister Beulah Simms Wade of Chicago, Illinois. He was also survived by several loving aunts, uncles and cousins as well devoted friends. His sister in law, Nettie Jean Benson, said that Mr. Simms " left behind an enormous hole in all their lives that will not be filled easily ".
Mr. Simms was a proud resident of the Washington DC Metropolitan area since his quiet birth forty years ago at St. Paul's Hospital Center. He attended Prince George's County schools and also graduated from Prince George's Community College with an associate degree in business administration. He was a well liked and popular salesman at a local gag gifts supply business for several years. His supervisor there said of Mr. Simms that " his departure is a truly sad event that his coworkers will never be able to forget as long as they live" and " that the sight, sound and even smell of him will linger in their memories for the longest time". He was particularly fond of music especially gospel as well as country.
Services for Jonah Simms shall be held on next Tuesday at Harmony of Faith Baptist Church with burial to follow in the family plot in the church graveyard and a repast to follow in the church reception hall. Donations for the future needs of the surviving Simms children shall be made at the " Widow LuLu Simms GoFundMe page ".
