" Welcome to the very hallowed halls of Barrington Academy, young lady," Dr. Gerald HighTower said heartily as he stood in his office at the school along with Dr. Oscar Oswell , Keisha Duncan and their newest uniform wearing student thirteen year old Nicole Duncan. The tall skinny to the point of being almost bony dark skinned Black girl with short coal black hair and snappingly intelligent black eyes looked back at each of them with a great deal of condescension upon her attractive young face as she ignored the headmaster.

Keisha pursed her lips at her only daughter and youngest child who had always been her most challenging one to raise. As she averted her eyes from Oscar who blushed whenever he happened to look at her she said bluntly," Did you not hear this man talking to you, little girl? Be polite like you were raised. "

Nicole almost rolled her eyes at not only her mother but all of them. That tall big bodied but not that fat old White man with the bougie Santa Claus attitude and the other one that kept looking at her mom in that weird ass way. Like he thought she was cute or something. Gross. He was too nerdy and too White to be looking at her mother that way. But she didn't want to piss off her mom who still believed in a good old fashioned spanking just like Grandma did. Her mom was just cray enough to go off on her right in this bougie ass office. So she just kept her face neutral plain and merely said," You're welcome, Doc. "

Keisha narrowed her own dark eyes at the word " Doc" and opened her mouth to respond back to her child just as Gerald replied," Doc. I like that. I've never had a proper nickname outside of Gerry. And , of course, in my own prep school days in England I was called Smalls. " He smiled slightly. " I was a portly child. I always did enjoy my scones very much. "

Oscar also smiled. " I never had a nickname myself. I've always just been Oscar. "

Nicole gave him one in her head. Asshole.

Gerald continued on ," We are very pleased to have you here , Nicole. I looked through your school records. Your grades are not perfect but they are fairly impressive. You seem to be a very smart young girl. "

Keisha shook her cornrolled head. " I know she has a smart mouth. That I know. "

Then there was a soft knock at the door and Gerald called out," Please enter. "

The door opened and Luci Moore , in her own neat and nicely ironed Barrington Academy uniform , stepped inside with a curious look on her brown face. Luci saw Keisha and Nicole there and lifted her eyebrow before asking," Dr. H. , you wanted to see me? "

Gerald nodded at her. " Yes , Miss Moore . As one of our best and brightest students here I want you to be responsible for showing around Miss Duncan here. Being her Barrington buddy so to speak. Luci , this is Nicole Duncan. Nicole , ........."
