Episode 33

Luci spent her free period in the school auditorium sitting cross-legged on the enormous stage in her usual all black outfit of black tee shirt, matching baggy jeans and battered old combat boots, her long jet black hair pulled back in a tight braid , her eyes poring over the lines in her script. She was determined to memorize every line perfectly for the play. After all it was set to start in early November. As much as she still wanted to go to Woodward College after graduation and study pre med and biology she really enjoyed acting. Not that she wanted to do it as a career or anything but it was relaxing. She did wonder why she couldn't find Sol though. Her face turned sour as she mused if he was caught up in the deadly web of that silly Willow Malden. Then she smiled as an idea came to her head. She had caught A.J. Norris staring at Willow a few times in class. Like they were crushing on the awful snob of a girl. Maybe just maybe she could convince A.J. to make a move on Willow. Maybe if Willow had her own boo she would leave Sol alone once and for all.

She was deep in thought of possible matchmaking schemes; maybe she could get Richie and Theodore to assist her because they could both be devious when they wanted to be, so deep in thought that she never noticed Reese Malden striding quietly onto the stage until he was right in front of her.

Luci looked up in surprise at the actor/ pop singer/ volunteer drama teacher, saying," Oh , hey , Mr. M. , did you need the stage for something? I can head to the library. "

Reese looked exhausted to her. She and all of the students felt so sorry for him because his husband died. For a big singer and all he was pretty nice and they learned a lot from him in drama class. The Romeo and Juliet he was revising was interesting too. Even Sol was getting into it and he was not a fan of Shakespeare. Plus he had to put up with that irritating Willow.

Reese said as he slowly sat down next to her on the stage," That's not necessary, Luci. I was actually looking for you. I may have an opportunity for you. An unique opportunity. If you are interested. "

Luci lifted an eyebrow at the man. What on earth was he talking about?

" What type of.... opportunity? "

Reese stretched out his long slim black jeaned legs and made a face that looked pained. " Don't ever get old , Luci. Sometimes my forties feel like sixties. I probably shouldn't have sat down here. " He laughed faintly and almost self consciously. " Anyway I was talking to my friend Rebel recently. He's wanting to start a special segment on his show. Not every day mind you. Maybe once or twice a week for about fifteen minutes. It's basically going to be called Transgender Teen Chat or something of that nature. A transgender girl or boy who will educate on what life is like for them. And maybe even answer questions from other trans teens who call in or email. I know you are trans and you are a very personable confident young girl so I was wondering if you were interested in doing it. "

Luci could not help herself. She laughed out loud. " What? You all want me to be on the Rebel show ? For real ? That's.... that's.... actually..... fire. "

Reese said softly," If fire means good I'm glad to hear it. If you are interested I can definitely pass your name and contact information and your uncles' contact information on to Rebel and his producers. It will be paid. I'm not saying you will get rich off it but they won't work you for free. I think Rebel mentioned five hundred dollars a segment and there will be at least two a week. He knows you or any teen has school so he would definitely pre-record your part. Or maybe they could stream you in from the school. That's an interesting idea too. " He rubbed at his knee slightly. Luci didn't even hesitate. " Yeah. I'm interested. When do I start? "

Reese laughed. " I'll let Rebel be the decider of all that. I'll tell him and he will be in touch with you and your uncles. "
