Episode 44

  " You're getting what, Granny ? ," Aiden asked as he made the mistake of putting a piece of buttered toast into his mouth after his grandmother's revelation at the breakfast table. He began to choke and cough rapidly as Alice Rose gently and very sympathetically patted him on his sweater vest wearing back. A.J. shook their head at the coughing man as they texted with Luci who kept talking about that annoying Willow Malden for some reason. Aiden took a quick sip of his coffee before continuing on haltingly,"Granny, did I hear you right? Did you say you were going to......"

Alice Rose smiled softly at him. " I'm getting married. Yes , Scooter. "

Aiden looked confused. " Married........... To ....."

" To Chief Judge Bernard Arnett. My Andrew's father. I emailed your father and your Aunt Aurora Rose about it. I didn't hear from Daniel of course. He's always so busy. But your aunt said she might be able to make it. I think she's in DC now. Or maybe Philadelphia. It's so hard to tell with her. She hates staying in one place for too long. Of course it is short notice. Tomorrow. "

Aiden widened his eyes at her.  " Tomorrow? As in the day after this one?"

" That's usually how it works, Dad ," A.J. said with a roll of their eyes. They were confused themself with why Luci wanted Willow to sit with them at lunch. Urg. They couldn't stand that rude snobby girl. She was so aggressive.

Alice Rose patted him on his arm , saying," Of course, dear. Why should we wait ? It'll be a small simple ceremony at the courthouse really. Nothing too fancy. Afterwards we will eat at that lovely restaurant  Richard's husband owns. I do hope you can make it. It'll be at noon. I emailed Spencer, Richard and Andrew to invite them as well. Oh , and I am going shopping for something nice to wear. "

A.J. said casually," Getting married is so old-fashioned. "

Richard furrowed his brow in consternation as he checked his email as he sat on the bed. Nigel yawned and looked at him , asking," Anything interesting? Did your ex change her mind about the mediation today? "

Richard shook his head. " No. It's something else. Apparently Chief Judge Arnett is marrying Alice Rose Norris tomorrow at the courthouse. And , he wants me to perform the ceremony. "

Andrew laughed out loud at the dining room table during breakfast as he read his email causing his wife Glory, stepson Alfred and Gerald HighTower to look at him in much surprise. The Angeletti triplets just ignored him because it was just old people acting strange as usual.

Glory asked," Care to share the joke with the class , dear ? "

Andrew looked up with a spreading smile. " Apparently my biological parents are getting married. Tomorrow."

Spencer was puzzled as he read the email several times.

DuBuis looked at him as he finished his bacon. " What's wrong? Stumped on Words With Friends that you're playing with Winston? "

" No. Of course not. I rarely get stumped as you call it on games. Apparently the people who say they are my father's real parents are getting married tomorrow. We're invited. "

DuBuis took a large gulp of his coffee. "Judge Arnett and Alice Rose from across the street? " He made a face. "Does that mean Aiden Norris will be there too ? "
