                Later That Night

" I can't believe you all are actually considering Sol going to another country ! ," Luci said in a sharp voice edged with not only disbelief but a slight fear as she and her family gathered for Spencer's dinner of spaghetti and meatballs in the Norland - Lane dining room. " It's..... ridiculous ! He just can't go ! "

She darted her eyes at her boyfriend and housemate Sol Klein who wouldn't look at her or anyone. He just kept his eyes lowered down to his plate as he casually twirled a big amount of spaghetti noodles loaded with sauce on his fork. Why did he actually want to do this anyway? , she thought. Leave the country? Leave school? Leave.....her ? What if he left for this stupid program of his and met someone else there ? Some cute girl who was cis and didn't need hormones? A girl who didn't have an annoying thing between her legs that didn't belong there ! Someone normal..... Or someone that the world thought was normal...... What if he went away and came back not wanting her anymore?

DuBuis lifted a brow at his niece. " Luci , I don't see any reason he should not participate in this program. Spencer and I talked to Gerald about it as well as Lyle plus checked their website information. It's solid to me. I think it'll be beneficial to him really. And , it's no more ridiculous than you doing this chat segment thing on the Rebel show. "

Luci snapped," Me being on Rebel will let me make money for college one day. And my surgery when I'm eighteen or whatever. And, it's just me hopping on Metro to the studio for a few minutes twice a week. Or streaming from school. It's not any different than my podcast or my YouTube ! He's going to another country! What if something happens to him ! Like the plane crashing or getting hijacked..... or something? "

" Dramatic much ? ," Theodore mumbled as he was texting Alan to calm him down after that gruesome thing he and the butler had found on Nicholas' porch.

" Oh , shut up , Theo - Dore ," Luci grumbled back as Sol whispered ," Ok , ok , I won't go. Sorry I even mentioned it. It wasn't my idea anyway. It was Mr. Anderson and Dr. HighTower. I'm probably not good enough anyway. "

Spencer thinned his lips and adjusted his glasses on his face as he looked at both Luci and then Sol. " Be quiet. Both of you. Luci , if you want us to agree to you going on Rebel which I don't  believe has any real educational value than you can hardly expect us to overlook this valuable opportunity in young Sol's own situation. And , Solomon, you are not rejecting this program. I won't allow you to do such a thing as saying no. You are going to Costa Rica because it will greatly benefit you academically now and in the future. This will look great on a college application. "

DuBuis cut his eyes at his husband. " He's only fourteen , Genius. I don't think college is a big issue in his life right now but I do think this trip will improve his life. I would have loved to travel when I was his age. He should go. "

Spencer cut his own eyes back at DuBuis. " Sweetheart, it's been a long time since you or I were his age. This is exactly when he should be thinking about college and the future. Especially since he already knows what his future career path shall be. Solomon, you are going and that is final. It's only for next term anyway. We do expect you to touch base with us daily though when you are there. Regular emails , video chat , texts. From the moment you exit the plane. "

Theodore sent a cheery cat picture to Alan and said," I think you should go too. Seriously, Sol , traveling is fire. I used to go everywhere with my..... parents. Me and my little sister did. And you can learn real Spanish which you just have to teach us when you get back home. "

Even Miracle put in her own two cents as she banged her plastic rainbow colored spoon on her high chair top next to her own food bowl. " Too , too , too ," she babbled merrily with every bang of the spoon.

Luci jumped up and said ," Well , I don't think he should go ! But I guess my opinion doesn't matter around here ! "

Then she raced out of the dining room.

Sol was about to stand up to follow her until DuBuis stopped him by saying firmly,' Let her go. She'll get over it. It's time Miss Luci realized she can't always get her way. And in this matter she should not. Now , Sol , we need to talk about what's involved in this trip of yours and what you can do over there. And , what you can not do. "
