" What's it to me ? ," Nicole snapped tersely as she stood in front of the arrogantly smirking Franco Angeletti and poked her finger right into his chest which barely got a response from him. " What's it to me ? Your mom , your dumb ass mom , ran down my brother and those other people too and got away with it. "

Luci felt the hair on the nape of her neck begin to rise slightly as she watched what could only end up really really wrong. She stepped between the two cold faced kids even though she wanted to just walk away but Nicole was blood and her cousin. It was her first day at Barrington and the last thing she wanted was Nicole getting in any trouble fighting an idiot like Franco Angeletti. She wanted to sigh. At least Franco's two look a like brothers Dumb and Dumber weren't around to back him up as usual which was actually a big surprise to her. Where you saw one you usually always saw the other two of the terrible trio of boys. " Look , both of you just chill......"

They ignored her as Franco said coolly ,"If Mom did anything wrong she would have gone to jail. Your brother just couldn't walk across the street properly and that other driver was an idiot. "

Luci narrowed her lips at Franco. What a dick. But why was she even surprised? Franco and his brothers were hardly what anyone would call sensitive. She was so glad he had stopped chasing after her with his dumb self. " Franco , that's rude, boy. Jamal had the right to walk across the street. He had the light. Your mom ran a red light. They say she was talking on her cell. And , because of her dumbness not only is Jamal messed up but Alan is in a wheelchair and his father is dead ! "

Nicole folded her arms across her thin chest and shot out," Yeah. Everything she just said. "

Franco rolled his eyes at both of them. "Look I know all that but it was an accident. My mom's paying for it now. She got attacked in jail and now she's acting weird. She thinks she's a kid again. She and my family are hurting just as bad as dumbass Jamal Duncan who didn't look both ways and the sissy crip Alan Kendall......."

Nicole abruptly balled her hand into a fist as she stared into his magnetic dark eyes just as Luci retorted ," Keep my Cousin Jamal and Alan's names out your mouth, Angeletti. You can't even compare the two things. "

As Nicole cut her eyes at Luci with reluctant appreciation Franco shook his head. " Stay out of this. I'm talking to this one. Not some freak of nature nobody summoned. "

Luci's eyes widened with sudden rage just as Nicole said through gritted teeth," Hey ! Insult her one more time and I'll kick your ass. That's my cousin. And she's right. Bet you'll be as weird as your mom when I get done with you. Apologize. To her. And to me for what your stupid mom did to my brother and my family. "

Before Franco could respond suddenly from around the corner came a dark suited security man from Gaines Investigation. He looked at all three of them with suspicion on his otherwise plain expressionless face, saying," Hey , shouldn't you all be in class or something? "

Luci put her arm around her cousin's stiff shoulders and to her surprise Nicole didn't pull away. "I was showing my cousin Nicole here the school the way Dr. HighTower asked me to. " She looked at Franco in barely disguised disgust. " I don't know what Franco Angeletti is doing out of class besides being an annoying nuisance as usual. " Then she and Nicole walked confidently past the security officer talking to each other like they were old friends as Franco watched them both go with growing anger on his face. And , a new interest in his eyes as he studied the new girl.
