Opening my eyes, I let out a small groan. Everything either hurts or was soar. Sighing, I pushed myself off the tree I was leaning against and looked around. It was dark but I could see all the dense trees that surrounded me. But why was it so warm?

Rubbing my eyes, I tilted my head up upon feeling a kiss on top my head. My lips turned into a big smile and my eyes lit up when seeing my mate looking down at me in her humanoid wolf form.

I was sitting in between her legs with her legs wrapped around me as well as her arms. My back was pressing against her fur chest. Feeling her breast up against me, a small blush formed on my cheeks which I paid no mind to. "No wonder it's so warm." I laughed.

"Iris." Leaning down, Azrael's wolf rubbed her head against mine. "We have missed you." My heart pang at hearing that. I turned and snuggled into her, burying my face into her fur that was stained with blood which I ignored. Even the smell of death that seemed to cling to her. "I missed you guys too."

We stayed like that until morning, not wanting to part, and when it came, Azrael shifted back into her human form and I saw the dark bags under her eyes. Her messy hair that I would normally would find sexy, made everything inside me ache instead. And it looked like she hasn't been eating.

To make a not so long story short, Azrael was scolded by both me and my wolf before we forced her to take a nap before going hunting for her to getting something to eat. More like, she followed me in the shadows as I hunt. Trying to make sure I didn't notice her but I quickly did. Her large form is very easy to notice.

I'm not a very good huntress, but my wolf managed to hunt down two deer and dragged them back to Azrael for her to eat. It was night time when I had return. Azrael had quickly return where she should have been after taking down our dinner.

There was a small fire which Azrael was sitting next to, starting into it, trying to hide that she was breathing slightly heavy. Her looked up when she heard me coming dragging the deer behind me. Seeing me, she shot up and came over, taking the two deer away from me. "Let me."

I sighed and let her take them, breathing a little heavy myself and didn't have the energy to scold her for a second time today. I also shouldn't be pushing myself so much, but my mate was in dire need of being taking care of and that's my job. To take care of her. Like how she takes care of me.

Ripping off pieces of the deer, I hanged pieces of it over the fire attached to sticks. The two of sat silently together as we waited for our dinner to finish cooking.

Leaning against Azrael, her arm wrapped around me and we listened to the meat sizzle. I don't know when, but after a while, I drifted off to sleep only to be awake up soon after by my bully of a mate.

"Here." Turning my head, Azrael was holding out a leg out for me. Smiling sleepily I thanked her and took it, taking a small bite. It wasn't a pickle but it had to do for now. Hopefully I'll get one soon. A whole jar would be better through.

Snapping out of my thoughts when a hand traced over my wrist. Looking up, Azrael was staring at the scar on my wrist with a scowl. After a moment, she turned to look at me straight in the eye. "Where did you get this?"

I stared back at her, swallowing the meat in my mouth before glancing at my wrist where a big scar from my hands being bond by the silver chains were.

"It's nothing." I used my other hand to pull my sleeve down to cover the scar. "I'd always had that." Lying to my mate breaks my heart, but I can't bear seeing herself beat herself for not being about to protect me.

Azrael's eyes narrowed. She reached over and tightly grabbed my arm, not so tightly where it hurt, but not so gently where I can escape her hold. Without hesitation, she pulled back my sleeve, revealing the nasty scar.

She growled, anger flowing off her. "I know every inch of your body, and I know for a fact that that scar wasn't there before." She looked back at me, her eyes dark. "Now, tell me the true, Iris. And don't lie to me this time."

Sighing, I began telling her on what happened after I was taken. Looking away from her and started down at the ground. "I don't really... remember much about it. All I remember is being in a cell with my old Alpha standing above me. Then pain. That's it. I think I blocked out everything after that."

There was a sudden loud groan that echo throughout the forest. Snapping my head up, I saw Azrael's eyes wide and full of rage. Her body shook uncontrollably and her hands started to grow into claws. "I'll kill him. I'll kill them all for touching you!"

My mouth moved on its own. "I already did." My consciousness was pulled back slightly as my wolf took control, Azrael turned to look at us, her shaking coming to a halt, a small smirk on our lips. "I hunted him down like a little rabbit and killed him. You should have seen how scared he was, it was very amusing. Especially when I was covered in his blood."

Azrael eyes widened as she froze. Then she suddenly smile, a small chuckle escaping her as she shook her head, rubbing her fingers through her hair. "Sounds like you had fun chasing him down. If only I was there to watch." Her eyes darkened. "But I'm still going to kill the rest of those cowards that dare to touch you."

Looking away, I felt myself be put back into control. "I expected nothing less from you, Az." Lifting the leg of meat up to my mouth, I took a bite. "But I still want a pickle."

Azrael laughed, wrapping her arm back around me. "I'll see what I can do. But first, let's eat, sleep, then head back to the pack, okay?"

I nodded, "Okay."

Returning back to the pack took over a week in wolf form which I liked. Running as a wolf was so nice, especially when Azrael as at my side. During that time, she got better and the bags under her eyes disappeared.

Anyways, when we returned back to the pack, Roxie and Leo were quick to greet us. "Alpha. Luna." They bowed their head in submission before lifting them up after a moment.

I studied the two of them and they looked to be a little worse for wear. They too had light bags under their eyes but other than that and their messy hair, they seemed fine.

But, they were a fearful look in their eyes which Azrael quickly noticed. "What happened?"

Roxie spoke. "We were attacked by the false king, Alpha. There were minimum casualties but they left a letter for you and the Luna." Me? Why me?
