It's been over two weeks since the false king attacked. Ever since, I've been on bed rest for the first week, slowly healing before Azrael allowed me to join the training sessions. Watching her demonstrate at first before actually being allowed to start fighting, which starts today.
She, her betas which are Wren and Roxie, gammas River and Leo, and best trained warriors were helping with these sessions. Splitting everyone into groups, with me obviously being with my mate so she could keep a close eye on me. And so no one else could lay a hand on me since I'm still healing.
Watching along side other newbie warriors as Azrael picked up her opponent and slammed them down to the ground, I suddenly hissed in pain. Looking down to realize that I was twiddling my fingers so much that I started to bleed a little.
When Azrael and her partner finished up, she helped the man up to his feet before turning to the rest of us. "Okay, get a partner and start sparing. When someone wins, move on and pick someone else."
"Yes Alpha." Everyone quickly did as told, grabbing somebody and going over to an empty space to start sparing.
But I didn't move, staying where I was, watching everyone leave before turning when Azrael walked over to me, a hint of worry in her eyes. "You're my partner, Iris. But, you don't have to do anything you aren't comfortable with."
I straightened up, feeling people staring at me."I asked you to train me, it's too late to back out now."
Azrael sighed. "Alright, just be careful, okay?" Nodding, Azrael took me over to an empty space. People already sparing each other around us. A couple pausing at the sight of us.
Standing a few feet away from each other, Azrael raised her hands and I did the same. Staring at each other for a minute, not saying a word, Azrael was the first to throw a punch.
Dashing over to me, I barely dodged the punch aimed for my face. Gritting my teeth, I hit her side before quickly moving away. Hissing from the pain, it's like I hit stone.
Unfazed by my hit, Azrael turned to me and dashed at me again. This time, I was ready and moved out of the way, sticking out my foot for her to trip over.
Azrael's eyes widened as she stumbled forward, giving me just enough time to kick the back of her knee which made her fall and elbowing the back of her neck.
Breathing heavy and grinning, I pulled back. Hands raised as I watch Azrael with gritting teeth, pushing herself up and turn to me, her eyes narrowed as she watched me for a moment. "Don't over do it, Iris. You're still healing."
"A person shouldn't be worried about their enemy." I spoke, trying to hide the pain in my voice. "It might get you hurt."
Bearing her teeth and letting out a low growl, she suddenly disappeared. My eyes widened and I started to look around in a panic. Where did she go! How fast is she!?
Suddenly, I was pinned against the ground and my arm was grabbed and pinned against my back. I yelped, looking back to see my mate. How the Goddess did she do that!?
"Submit." I shook my head, making Azrael push my arm a little bit more up, sending shocking of pain. "Submit."
I scowled, bearing my teeth, sweat pouring down the side of my face. "Make me." Azrael growled, pressing her body more against me. "Submit." Gritting my teeth, squirming to be free for a couple of minutes, trying everything, I finally gave up.
Groaning annoyed, I went still. "I submit." Just like that, Azrael let me go and took a step back. Looking down at me as I sat up, placing a hand over my stomach. Shutting my eyes from the pain. I really over did it today, didn't I? Goddess I'm so tired and I barely did anything.
Hearing footsteps, I opened my eyes when Azrael took my other hand and gently pulled me up to my feet before started to drag me away. I didn't protest as she took me to the sidelines and sat me down on a log, crouching down to be eye to eye with me.
"Lift your shirt." I did so without a word. Reveling my bandage stomach that was just a little bloody. But was enough for Azrael to sigh, looking back up at me, seeing me watching her. "I can change the bandages right now if you want? It isn't too bad."
Putting my shirt down, I shook my head. "I'm find. You can do it later."
"If you stay so, little flower." Standing up and moving to stand by my side, we watched as the warriors trained. After maybe half an hour later, in the corner of my eye, I saw a few making their way over to us before freezing in place. Eyes wide in fear before they quickly ran off. Confused, I looked up at Azrael to see that she was glaring at them.
Quietly chuckling, I shook my head. Grabbing her arm and making her sit down right beside me. She didn't complain when I started to use her as a pillow, resting my head on her lap."Today was so tiring." I whispered, eye half open. A wave of exhaustion finally hitting me.
"That's because you don't have much stamina."Azrael spoke, run her fingers through my hair. It was comforting and nice.
Sighing in relief, I moved closer to her. Feeling myself slowly slip into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up to the sound of hush voices. Opening my eyes a little, I looked around and saw that I was laying in bed in me and Azrael's room. Azrael was an across the room, standing in the doorway, talking to someone who I couldn't see but their scent was oddly familiar.
Keeping as still as possible to not alert them that I was wake, I laid my head back down on my pillow and listened in. "You said for me to have the throne, I had to exchange a life! You didn't say my pup was going to be the one!"
"To reach your goal, Queen of Werewolves, you must exchange a life for the wooden crown that will lay on top your head. Or have you forgotten?A life is a life." A voice answered, the tone cold and uncaring. Making me angry but I didn't dare move. "Fate is cruel, but it is fate. Nothing can stop it. Your child was taken, and in exchanges you have thousands of warriors that are willing to fight for you because of it."
Hearing Azrael bit down in a sob, my heart pang and I closed my eyes, tears forming in them. "But why...why did it have to be my innocent pup? Because of my want for the throne, my mate has to suffer. If only..." She trailed off.
"The child was going to die anyways." My breath hitched, eyes snapping open. What? "If she hadn't gone to the throne room and stayed in your chambers, her sister or your brother or one of his warriors would have eventually found her and your mate would still be stabbed and die too before you made it back to her from the village." I felt pain and confusion from the mating bond.
"What do you speak of, which? Our pup was going to die anyways? No matter what was done?" Azrael's voice rose in anger, her emotions flooding the mating bond and crashing into mine.
"Yes." The witch said, sounding a little too happy. "You should be glad she left when she did, she survived because she didn't listen to you but now she will. If she would have died as well as your pup, would claiming the throne really would have mattered to you, daughter of Xenia."
Nothing else was said. The only thing I could hear, was the sound of the door closing and the soft sobs of my mate.
