Feeling the sunlight beaming in my face, I groaned annoyed. Reluctantly opened my eyes and rubbing the sleep out of them, my hand plopped down onto the bed as I looked around the room. Remembering that I was in my brother's meet up spot.
Sighing, I attempted to sit up only to be stopped by weight laying on my chest. Looking down, I smiled at the sight of my beautiful, asleep mate.
Her hair was everywhere, hand resting on my bare chest with the other holding mine, our fingers into twining, face laying on my breast as soft snores left her slightly agape mouth. She is so breathing taking in the morning.
But, sitting up a bit without waking my mate, my eyes narrowed and my smile fell when seeing the scars on her back that weren't covering by hair.
After Iris shifted for the first time, some of her scars faded away but the ones on her back remained, only lighting up a bit. They were deep and were caused by silver, therefore will always remain as a reminder of her past.
Feeling anger rise in my chest, my wolf growled in the back of my head. Wanting control to rip the people that dare cause pain to our mate, but I held her back. No, it is not the time.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself, my wolf did the same. Setting down and going quiet.
Opening my eyes, I looked back at Iris. Staring at her sleep for a moment before moving my free hand and began tracing over her scars. Having already memorized them the first time I caught sight of them. Every time I see them, rage is all I feel.
Snapping out of my thoughts as Iris hummed, I looked up at her face as she moved a little before snuggling deeper into my chest. Mumbling something under her breath.
A soft chucked escaped me by how cute she was being. Iris's brows furrowed and after a moment, her eyes fluttered open, looking confused as she looked around. Quietly spotting me. "Good morning, princess. How you feeling?"
Her eyes narrowed, the tiredness still there as she grumbled. Closing her eyes and resting her head back on my chest. "Sleepy." She mumbled.
Smiling at that, I went to sit up. Only for Iris to groan and grab hold onto me, making me pause. "Don't get up yet, Az. Let's go back to sleep." She whined, wrapping her arms around me.
"If that is what you want, then I shall-" There was a knock on the door. I growled annoyed, looking over at it. "Who is it?" Who dares interrupt me and my mate? "It's Gus, Alpha. Breakfast is being served." I growled again. "I'll be right there."
Turning my head back to Iris, my expression softened. "Want anything to eat, my love?" She shook her head. "No. I'm not hungry. I just want to sleep. You can go through."
"If that is want you want." Gently moving Iris off of me and getting out of bed, I pulled the blankets over her before putting on my clothes that were scattered all over the room. Hiding some of the hickeys and scratch marks that were all over my body.
When I was done, I walked over to the bed, my light but heavy footsteps filled the silent room. Leaning down, I pressed a kiss against Iris's hair.
"Stay here, my love. I'll be back shortly." Iris hummed, not even opening her eyes as she snuggled deep into the pillow. Shaking my head, I got up and spun around, going over to the door. Opening and closing it behind me. My expression going cold when stepping out of the room.
Gus was patiently waiting for me outside, bowing his head when seeing me. "Alpha. Shall we?" I nodded. "Let us go."
Gus followed me down the hall and stairs, smelling the smell of food that took us to a large dining room.
One side was where my brother sat, his mate nowhere in sight with his guards surrounding him. Wearing black suits and sunglasses as they stood against the wall, watching.
My warriors were at the other side of the room, sitting down at the table with freshly cooked meat in front of them, untouched. Waiting for me to take the first bite. They stood up and bowed their heads when I walked in. "Alpha."
Going to the other end of the table, across from my older brother, I took a seat. My warriors doing the same. "Sister, took a while." Aspen smirked, which I ignored. Looking down at the pile of meat on my plate,
"We hunted today's breakfast, so there's no need to be worried, Alpha." Gus spoke, taking a seat to my right. I silently nodded my head.
Just then, Iris's little sister came with a jug in her hands. She was tumbling as she poured me a cup of water. I noticed the buries on her face and neck, anger stirring up inside me in which I held back. They laid a hand on my mate's family.
When she was done pouring the water, she bowed her head, taking a step back. She reminds me a lot like Iris when I first found her.
Grabbing the cup of water, I pulled it up to my lips, pausing right before I could take a sip. Smelling a tiny trace of aconite, or wolf's bane. Lethal to werewolves.
Looking over at Aspen from across the table, I didn't look away as I pulled the cup away from my lips and set it down.
Studying my brother, I finally noticed it. The tiny drop of sweat rolling down the side of his face, the nervous shifting around, his eyes constantly shifting from me then back to his plate, his shaking hands. My gaze darkened. "You're not him." The guards tensed up.
The fake Aspen's eyes widened and he snapped his head up. His shaking becoming worst and more noticeable for my warriors who all turned their heads at him.
Hearing a faint sound, I turned my head. Listening closely. It was muffled, but it sounded like fighting. My eyes widened. Iris.
"KILL EVERYONE HERE BUT THE OMEGA!" My warriors shot up from their seats, having not touch their food, and instantly began killing everyone in the room, blood splattering everywhere.
Darting out of my seat, I rushed out of the room in a blink of an eye. Going up the stairs and down the hall in a flash, in front of the guess room for me and Iris in an instant.
Slamming open the door, my eyes widened at the state of the room. It was a mess with the covers of the bed on the ground, there was a hole in the wall, and there were three dead vampires on the floor. Blood spilling out of their wounds.
Iris.
Looking around the room, my eyes landed on the window that was wide open, wind blowing inside. Dread and realization hit me like a stone.
They took my mate.
THEY TOOK MY FUCKING MATE!
