Everything became sort of tense and uncomfortable after Az read that message from the crow. She became too quiet and cold to the point that it kind of scared me.
I guess another people noticed her changed behavior and put even more effort to stay out of her way. Like a wolf hunting a group of rabbits.
Even the pups noticed it and also stayed out of the way, hiding behind their mother's legs.
But, despite her change of behavior, she was still being very gentle with me as she carried me back to the training grounds and walked up to Leo, who was having a conversation with a familiar shewolf. Roxie was it?
Her back was facing the two of us as we walked up from behind. Leo noticed us first and perked up, tilted his head in confusion as he watched us get closer.
Roxie saw his weird behavior and turned around, spotting us and her eyes widened. "Alpha, what is it?" She asked, avoiding eye contact as Az stopped right in front of the pair.
My body moved closer to Az, feeling slightly uncomfortable at being in this little meeting with high ranking wolves but Az refused to put me down.
When I tried to wiggle myself down to stand on my own, her grip tightened on me and she'll let out a small angry growl which made me stop. There wasn't any real power behind it, just a small warning to silently tell me to knock it off.
"I have receive word of unpleasant news." Az stated, staring at the warriors still beating up on the teen wolves with the corner of her eye. "Let us discuss this in a more private area as to not be heard by unwanted ears."
It was more like an order than a request. Leo and Roxie knew it as well.
"Of course, Alpha. Let's go to one of the cabins to talk." Leo's expression was a serious and cold one, nothing like the funny, goofy one he always had on. It terrified me.
Feeling my body shaky against her, Az placed her other hand on my arm. Holding me close while still looking over at Leo and Roxie. Feeling her gently arm around me and smelling her scent, I relaxed. "Lead the way, Gamma Leo." Gamma?
"As you wish, Alpha." Turning his head to the side, Leo shouted out. "Fawn! You're in charge while I take care of important matters!"
One of the warrior had flipped over a boy to the ground before looking over at us. She looked young with long brown hair and red eyes. She was tall from a distance and she didn't look that scary. "Got it, Gamma Leo!"
Turning back, she said something to the other wolves close to her which made them pause and put their attention on her.
I couldn't hear what they were saying because of how far away she was and the other noises making it difficult to hear.
I looked back at Leo, his expression still cold. "Let us go, Alpha." Without having another word spoken, Leo turned and began walking towards where the cabins were.
Az and Roxie followed with Leo walking right next to us and just a few inches ahead.
It was an unwritten rule that all ranks followed since walking in front of an Alpha is seen as disrespectful, rude, and can easily set off an Alpha because they might see it as a challenge.
Going back to where everyone else was, wolves were still avoiding us and keeping out of our way but this time, they were putting a lot more effort in it. But why?
Why are they shaking so much? Why are they so afraid? Why are they so terrified? Who are they so scared of? This is all confusing.
Taking a deep breath to calm myself, my eyes snapped open and widened and it began to feel like I was suffocating.
The fear in the air is so overwhelming that I'm feeling a little dizzy due to my senses being flooded. My mind began to feel all groggy and my vision went blurred.
Unable to take it anymore by how much fear there was, my head fell onto Az's shoulder and my grip on her loosen.
I felt her eyes on me before feeling concerned and worried through our mating bond. Feeling it, my breath hitched. This was the first time she's used the bond to express her feelings. It makes me happy.
Closing my eyes, I used the bond to send back a small amount of an overwhelmed feeling before sending comfort to say that I was alright.
Az seemed to understand and send pity and love which made me feel less overwhelmed.
"We're here." Snapping out of it, Leo was holding open a door with Roxie next to him, staring at us. My cheeks darken in embarrassment as Az walked into the cabin, followed by with Roxie then Leo who closed and locked the door.
With all the windows closed, the cabin was dark. Roxie went over to light some of the close by candles to give us some light.
The room lit up, exposing a table in the middle of the room with a bunch of chairs. Pulling out one, Az sat me down. Smiling down at me and putting a hand on my head. I smiled back.
Az lifted her head, standing straight, her expression going back to cold, and she removed her hand. Leo was standing across from us while Roxie was off to the side with her arms crossed.
"Hawk has send word that the Silver Fang and Pine Forest Packs are planning to attack us together." Leo and Roxie got tense at that. "The Silver Fang and Pine Forest?"
"I'm not repeating myself."
"Both of them follow the council and are a couple of the most powerful packs in the world. The Silver Fangs and Pine Forest are both seven hundred strong. Combined that, we're looking at nearly a thousand and a half to fight."
I've never heard of those packs before. And seven hundred warriors each, that means their packs must be huge.
"If the council are sending the both of them to deal with us then they must be desperate. The two of them hate each other guts and aren't use to deal with Rogues." Why are they discussing such important matters in front of me?
Looking up at Az, she seemed to be deep in through with her hand on her chin and being all quiet. Focusing on the bond, I felt how trouble she was.
And before I knew it, I opened my mouth."So why don't you use that against them?" The trio looked at me, making me blush and look down. "What are you saying, Luna?" Don't call me that.
Sneaking a peak at Az, she put a hand on my back and nodded, giving me some courage. "If they hate each other and aren't used to fighting Rogues, you can use that for an advantage."
I paused, shifted uncomfortably in my seat from the unwanted attention but the warm hand of Az made me continue.
"How I see it, Rogues and recognized packs fight differently. Plus, Rogues are said to be wild wolves that use plain strength to win fights. You don't think and just act savage. They might underestimate you and get cocky which will make them easy to take down. So you have the element of surprised as your advantage."
Everyone silently stared at me for a moment, making me even more nervous. Did I say something wrong? Probably did. I should have just kept my mouth shut.
"The Luna is right." What? My head looked up and over at Roxie. "We can use this as an advantage to fight them off." She turned to Az.
"We should head back to Death Rock, Alpha. Head back to the Stronghold to come on with a plan to win this battle for the War." War? What war? There's a war going on? "What time are they attacking?"
"In two nights, right on the full moon. They were planning to surprise us on the pack's monthly run."
"Then we have two nights to prepare and turn the tables. Leo," Straightening up, Leo stood there as Roxie looked at him. "Warn the warriors and tell the pack to relocate to the second location. We can't waste any time."
"On it, Beta!" Leo bowed his head before leaving, unlocking the door and closing it behind him.
