Feeling the wind slamming against me as Azrael rushed through the forest, running past trees and jumping over brushes or tree roots, there was a weird sense of freedom in my chest.

Tightly holding onto Azrael's black fur, my body pressed against her's so I wouldn't go flying off, I opened one eye. Seeing trees go flying by and the running wolves right next to us.

Lifting my head just a little, I looked around the bright green forest that instantly took my breath away. It's so beautiful.

Feeling a smile grow on my face, I slowly lifted the upper part of my body up from Azrael. Still tightly clinging to her fur as the wind now slammed into me at full force. Ready to knock me off. My eyes widened and my smile became bigger.

Seeing and feeling the true beauty of being an unchained wolf.

Hearing a loud laugh escape my lips, Azrael looked over her shoulder at me. Noticing her staring, I looked down at her. A huge smile still on my lips. Seeing my excitement, she grinned.

Nearly falling off of Azrael when she tripped over a tree root that was sticking out of the ground, another laugh escaped me as my grip on her fur tightened even more.

Azrael nearly tripped over and lost her balance for a moment before regaining it.

The Alpha looked back at me and frowned. Hearing the others laugh as well, she looked over at them and snarled at them, making them snapped their mouths shut.

Looking back at me, I simply smiled at her and made a motion with my finger to turn back around. Softly growling, she did as told.

After running until the sun was down and the stars shined in the night, Azrael and the warriors finally stopped to rest and make camp, much to my disappointment but I can't complain much since I wasn't the one running the entire day.

Sitting on a log a small distance away from everyone else as they sat around a fire, waiting for the small group of five to return from hunting tonight's dinner, my eyes were on my mate.

Azrael was speaking to one of her warriors about something and I couldn't help but to look at her muscular body that was exposed for all to see.

I may or may not have lost Azrael's shirt during the run. It slipped out of my grasp when I was too busy taking in the beauty of everything.

Azrael didn't seemed to mind through, which is the only thing I'm grateful for.

Im happy that she's not mad at me, but I don't like how she's walking around half naked in front of all those werewolves with some of them not being mated.

Just thinking about someone else staring at my mate's body with lust is making me growl. Maybe I should give her more marks to show she's taken since that bite mark on her neck isn't doing much.

Snapping out of my thoughts as the warriors suddenly cheered, my head turned to see the group that went out hunting came back. Each having a dead deer or two over their shoulders.

Azrael went up to one of them as they sat the deer down from their shoulders and patted her back. I bit down a growl and quickly looked away.

The sounds of the warriors cheer, their jokes, goofing around, the deers getting prepared to be cooked, and everyone just having a good time filled my ears.

Looking back when the noise of someone's footsteps making their way towards me, my mood instantly brightened when seeing the person being Azrael.

She came over and stopped right in front of me, raising a hand and grabbing a leaf out of my hair. "What are you doing over here alone, little mate." She asked, sitting down next to me on the log, looking back at the warriors cooking the deer.

I hummed, also staring at the warriors. "I through it be better to stay out of the way. You know, so I don't ruin the mood." Azrael huffed and I felt her staring at me.

"You're not going to ruin anything, Iris. Sure the others are a bit on the louder side and like to horseplay, which you don't, but that doesn't mean you're not allowed to hang out with them." I didn't say anything to that.

Turning my gaze away from the loud warriors to Azrael. I stared at her body, seeing a few scars.

Azrael noticed and a huge grin grew on her lips. "Like what you see, little mate?" A blush formed on my cheeks but I didn't look away.

Reaching over, I traced a finger over a scar on the Alpha's side. "Why did you get that one?" Azrael looked down at which scar I was taking about.

"I was out on patrol one night and a group of Hunters sneak up on me. Caught me off guard but I quickly snapped out of it and fought back. Killing all of the Hunters but in doing so, one of them managed to cut me with their dagger that was made out of silver when I wasn't looking."

Silver. One of the only few things that can leave a scar on a werewolf for the rest of their days.

"And these ones?" My hand moved towards the three claw marks over her chest. I've notice them before but never paid much mind to them or ask about them until now.

"I just turned fifteen and went out for my first hunt alone to become an adult. It's our Rite of Passage. It was a grizzly bear, massive the thing was, about the size of my wolf form now, and was extremely strong." Azrael leaned back, staring up at the dark sky with a grin.

"Normal bears wouldn't be a true challenge for any Alpha but this one was different. It lived for two and a half centuries and had killed many wolves before me for trying to claim its fur. That was, until I ran into it and won. It's now our blanket back home."

Happily sighing from the memory, Azrael turned back to me. "What about you?" Leaning over, the Alpha traced a hand over a scar at the side of my neck. "How did you get this one?"

My cheeks darkened and I looked away from her. "I was young, either three or four I think, and was messing around, playing with a toy. Elijah wanted it but I refuse. We fought, he got hurt, and Luna, in a fit of rage, grabbed a pair of scissors that was close by and cut me."

More like tried to stab me, but I saw what she was doing and quickly moved out of the way which lead to me being slashed instead. But, I'm not going to tell Azrael that.

And to be honest, it's kind of embarrassing, talking about my scars to her. Sure she seemed them before but she got hers by fighting and being brave while I got mine in weak and pathetic ways. So I can't help but be slightly self conscious about them.

In the corner of my eye, Azrael's eyes narrowed, darkening a bit as she stared at the scar. Leaning over, she placed a kiss over it.

I hummed, blushing from the action. "What was that for?" I asked as Azrael leaned back. "For not being there." There was a hint of sadness in her eyes. Before I could say anything to comfort her, a voice stopped me.

"Hey Alpha! Luna!" Azrael and I turned our heads back to the group to see one of the young shewolves waving at us. "Food's ready!"

"Thanks Ash, we're be right over." Ash smiled at us before turning around. Back towards us as she walked to get her portion.

Hearing Azrael sigh, I turned to look at her. She stood up from the log and stretched a little, popping a few of her bones.

When she was done, she looked down at me. Tiling her head and having a small smile on her lips. "Well? Hungry?" She stretched out a hand.

Looking at her hand then back up at her, I smiled back. Taking her hand into mine. "Yeah." Getting up from the log, me and Azrael began walking over to the others.
