I didn't feel anymore of that weird sharp pain in my chest. It's been hours now with the sun already set and the moon almost high in the sky.
Maybe it was just a one time thing. It really hurt. Azrael felt my pain through our bond, she was worried and it felt like she was going to come back. But, I kind of told her that I was alright and there was no need to worry.
She hesitated took that and continued the packs run. Still checking up at me after half an hour to see if I was truly alright before I nudged her to go back to the pack which took a little while.
Honestly, she's such a worried wart. It's cute.
Sighing, I laid down on the rock I was sitting on. Closing my eyes and crossing my arms over my chest, just waiting for my mate to come back. It's getting cold.
I think the pack is wrapping up their run, pups should be tired by now so the pack would be returning back to their homes.
Speaking of pups, Azrael seems to be really good around them. They weren't afraid to be close to her or even scared to climb all over the giant puppy. Azrael doesn't seem to mind them either.
In fact, she was really gentle with them and was having a lot of fun playing with them. She's so sweet.
Hearing a twig snap in the distance, I snapped out of my thoughts and turned my head to look. Seeing nothing but trees and darkness, I sat up, continuing to search on what made that sound.
After a moment, my body froze when seeing large red eyes shining bright from the darkness, staring back at me.
I stared back at the shining red eyes, feeling uneasy and unsure on who it was. After all, the entire pack had red eyes. It could be anyone and I'm not sure if some of the pack likes me or not.
Sending fear through mine and Azrael's bond to warn her of a possible threat, the being that was hiding in the darkness finally stepped out.
My body relaxed and a small sigh of relief escaped me when Azrael's large wolf form showed itself. I pouted as she walked over to me. "That wasn't nice Az." I stated.
Azrael just came up to me, letting out amused growls which made my pout deepen. My shoulders, slouched.
When she was right in front of me, Azrael leaned down and pressed her muzzle against my face, rubbing her head against me. Without thinking, I lifted a hand and began scratching behind Azrael's ear, she halted all movement.
She toss her head back as her eyes rolled to the back of her head and her mouth hung open with her tongue sticking out. She leaned into my hand.
Hearing thumping noise, I looked down to see Azrael's foot thumping against the ground. Groans of pure bliss left her. Goddess, she's really enjoying this.
I giggle. "You're so cute. Like a giant puppy." Azrael let out a small growl which I brushed off while she narrowed her eyes at me. Still leaning into me as I moved my hand to give her more scratches.
I should definitely do this more often. Azrael has such an adorable reaction when I scratch behind her ears.
Noticing something behind Azrael, I moved to look and saw a tiny pup. Tongue sneaking out of his mouth as he sat there watching us. Breathing very quick. His fur was black, not as dark as Azrael, a bit more light, and had blue eyes.
Seeing the young one, I pulled my hand away from my mate. She whined upon the lost of the scratches. Even huffing at me and stomping her foot in protest.
Giggling at that, I shook my head. "We have a small guess, Az." Azrael looked at me confused before looking behind her, seeing the little pup.
She groan, getting on and going over to the pup, who bared. Also getting up, the pup put down his front legs in a "ready to play" position with his tail wagging behind him at crazy speeds.
When Azrael got closer to him, the small pup jumped up and tried to lick Azrael's face only to fail due to the height differences.
Sitting back down, tail wrapped around her, Azrael watched as the small pup ran around her. Doing nothing when he barked at her or even pulled on her tail to get her to play with him.
A small laugh came out when seeing this and I placed a hand over my mouth to quiet myself. My mate looked at me with a stoic face before smiling a moment later.
Turning her head back down to the pup pulling on her tail, Azrael leaned down and gently grabbed the youngest by the back of his neck.
He whined, trying his best efforts to escape the giant wolf's jaws as she walked back over to me and placed him onto my lap.
My laughter stopped and my body tensed, staring down at the pup sitting on me. Giving an annoyed growl to the Alpha before turning around to look at me.
I'm not use to being around pups. The parents and older siblings back at the Golden River Pack kept the young ones far away from me, saying that they didn't want me to spread anything bad things like diseases or future bad luck to them.
The young one tilted his head, licking his muzzle while staring up at me. "Ummm...Az, I don't think this is a good idea." My darling mate just rolled her eyes, doing nothing to help me. Curse her.
The pup suddenly barked, startling me, and jumped up, paws against my chest as he began licking my face. I hummed, raising my head up so he didn't get slobber all over me.
Slowly grabbed him, I picked the pup up and held him away from me. Staring at him, not knowing what to do now. "Az, I'm going to hurt you."
Azrael snorted, not believing my words. Yup, she's definitely sleeping on the floor tonight.
Hearing the sound of rusting, we all looked to the side just as a few people stepped out from the tree line. They were very pale, bright red eyes, and black veins. And they smelled of death mixed with something rotting. Vampires.
Azrael growled upon sight of them and stepped in front of the pup and me protectively. "Now, now, your majesty." The male in the middle hissed, showing a pair of long fangs. "We just want to chat."
I slipped down from the rock onto the grassy ground, holding the pup close to me as he whimpered in fear, shaking in my hold.
Growling again, Azrael shift back into her human form, not caring she was naked in front of all these strangers. "I've already told you blood suckers to fuck off. There's nothing for you here."
The man hissed, the people behind him starting to grow impatient. Hunger in their eyes. "Oh, but these lands reek of blood. I'm sure you can spare a few bodies for us to drink from."
How vile these dead monsters are. No werewolf would ever dare to give up a werewolf corpse for a vampire to feed from. It's unjust. Not even the worst of enemies would do such a thing. The Moon Goddess herself looks down upon it.
We are wolves, children of the night, not blood bags for these monsters.
"As I told you, leach!" Azrael snarled angrily, claws growling on her hands. "I will not give you wolf corpses for your own wellbeing. Now, fuck off before I send you to whatever afterlife you vampire go to. I'm not telling you again."
The smile of the vampires face fell and he sighed. "Fine, looks like we have no other choice." Snapping his fingers, we were suddenly surrounded by dozens upon dozens of vampires. All hungry for blood.
Holding onto the pup more closer to my chest, I looked up at Azrael. She rolled her shoulder and cracked her neck. "I warned you."
That's when a messy bloodbath began.
