Keeping an eye on the men in black, clinging close to Azrael, I felt my wolf start to stir at the back of my mind. Cautious around all these threats that could possibly hurt either Azrael, our unborn pup, or my pack.
Feeling my body tense up right beside her, Azrael gently squeezed the upper part of my arm. Continuing to face forward as she eyed the man in black as well, focusing on every little move they made.
The same could be said by the twenty warriors behind us.
Upon reaching the entrance of the building, another man in black, narrowed his eyes in disgust as he held open the door for us and we walked by him.
Without causing too much attention towards her, the shewolf warrior, Ash, stepped on his foot as hard as she could. Making him bit down on his lip to muffle a grunt of pain. Glaring at her.
Holding back my chuckle as my lips twitched to a smile, Ash looked over to me and gave me a wide, toothy smile. Giving me a thumbs up, which I did the same as well.
Turning back, we walked down the hall and into a room that the door was open. The room was big and dark, could fit around maybe fifty people, and there was a big circle table in the middle of the room. Chairs all around it.
King Aspen and his mate were already sitting on one side. King Aspen staring over at us with a bit of fear and anger as the Queen kept her head down. Hands on her lap as she continued to say nothing. "Take a seat."
Azrael growled at the order but did as told. Taking me with her as the two of us took a seat across from the two royals, our own twenty warriors standing behind us while around twenty to thirty men in black stood behind them or to the sides.
"So, shall we-"
"Why did you call me here, Aspen." Azrael interrupted, causing Aspen's eye to twitch and his frown to deepened. The anger in his eyes getting worst. "I ask for you here because I want to put in end to this silly little war."
"And why would I do that?" Azrael's tone became to become raspy, a sign that she was either horny, just woken up from bed, or getting angry.
Her eyes began to glow a little as she stared daggers at her brother, leaning back into her chair. Reaching under the table, I grabbed her hand. Calming her just a little.
Aspen's eye twitched again, his hand laying on the table turning into a tight fist. "Because, as your king, you should do as I say. I have enough of your little rebellion all because you're so against the council and the royal family accepting human technology."
"Accepting the human technology and their money, only lead suffering and evil to werewolf kind." I looked up at Azrael, remembering what she had told me about what packs started to do to each other to get their paws on human money "It's is a plague that must be rid of. After all, it's the reason why you killed the rest of the family and pinned the blame on me."
My eyes widened as whispers filled the rooms, mostly coming from the men in black, as Aspen shot up from his seat and slammed his hands onto the table. His mate flinched and bowed her head even more, beginning to shake.
Aspen stared angrily at Azrael who didn't even move in her seat. Staring right back at her older brother while I sat there shocked. Taking in the information I was just given.
Azrael was accused of killing her family? No one told me that. Then again, when I really think about it, Asrale doesn't really talk much about her family and I'm not one to poke and pry into people's lives they're not comfortable with to share.
Maybe later, I can ask her more about what's going on, especially about her past with her family.
"BE QUIET!" Snapping out of it, I stared over at Aspen. Pressing my lips tightly closed as all the whispers instantly disappeared into nothing.
Azrael glanced over at me and her eyes narrowed, baring her teeth in anger as she looked over at her brother. Her grip tightening on my hand.
Breathing heavily, Aspen spoke more. "If anyone dares say a word to anytime outside this room, I'll kill you myself." The room filled with quiet "yes alpha" from everyone except the Rogues.
As the room went back to being quiet, sound of a door behind us opened. Everyone turned to look and a small girl, around five foot one, with dark blond hair came in wearing a maid's uniform. A tray of just two cups in her hands.
My eyes widened and my breath hitched, her familiar scent triggering old memories. Lily?
Aspen took a deep breath, sitting back down into his seat. "You sure took your sweet time." I couldn't hear his words, too lost as I stared at my old friend who deepened her bow and respond to the false king with a weak and apologetic voice. "I apologize, your majesty."
"I don't care about your damn apologies! Just serve us already, girl!" He slammed his fist into the table again, making a dent as both his mate and Lily flinched.
My head snapped back to him as a low growl left me, angry that he dare yell at her. Azrael having to remove her hand from mine and wrap her arm around my waist to keep me from tearing her brother's throat.
Who turned to me, announced in his eyes as Lily quickly came over to us, trembling as she walked past the Rogues staring down at her before placing a glass cup in front of Azrael.
The smell of alcohol made my nose twitch and I moved away in my seat to get away from the smell. Not finding it very pleasant.
Bowing her head at us, glancing into my eyes for just a slit moment before turning away and going over to Aspen. Lily placed the other cup in front of him.
He snatched the cup and pushed Lily to the ground, ignoring her small whimper. "So fucking slowly." He mumbled, taking a sip of his drink.
Azrael only glanced down on the cup in front of her, not moving to grab it.
Aspen moved the cup from his lips, looking across the table at us. "Sister, it'll be wise to keep that big mouth of yours shut." He tilted his head, eyes narrowed. "So how about you just hurry up and agree with me."
"How about...no?" Before Aspen could react, one of the men in black instantly stormed over to us, looking extremely more pissed off then his king. "You dare to not listen to his majesty!?"
Just as he got too close, one of the Rogue warriors quickly grabbed him, and ripped out his throat with their bare teeth.
