Stepping into the room, the first thing I saw was Azrael sitting on the bed. Staring at me with narrow eyes and a scowl on her face. "Where did you do?" She asked with her raspy voice, making a shiver go up my spine but now wasn't the time.
Smiling nervously, I closed the door behind me and went over to my mate. Ignoring the heat forming in between my legs. "I went to see Lily."
Azrael's expression relaxed slight when hearing that but still looked angry, it was practically coming off her in waves. "And you didn't think to tell me before leaving? I nearly chased after you when you left." My eyes narrowed at that.
"You were awake?" Please say no. Please say no.
"The second you collapsed, I was awake." My blush returned and darkened when hearing that. So I wasn't being sneaky then, how embarrassing.
Covering my face in embarrassment, there was a small sigh from Azrael before she leaned over and wrapped an arm around me. Pulling me towards her and into her lap.
Pressing her nose into my hair, Azrael angrily grumbled things under her breath. Saying that I shouldn't have left alone, I could have gotten hurt, and to never to sneak off alone again.
I felt her worried pouring from the bond, making my wolf whimper that our mate was scared.
Feeling my blush fade away, I removed my hands from my face and leaned into Azrael's chest. Gently grabbing her free hand and began playing with her fingers to help calm her down.
After a moment, she stopped rambling and sighed. Looking down at me as I stared up at her, our eyes linking to one another. Leaning closer to her, I saw the warmness and love in Azrael's eyes, making a light feeling form in my chest.
But, I could tell that she was still angry and worried about me leaving. So, while continuing to play with her fingers, I thought for a moment before speaking, trying to distract her mind elsewhere.
"You know, for my Rite of Passage, I hunted a little white rabbit." A soft chuckle escaped my lips after I said that, moving my gaze downward to our hands. Azrael didn't say a word, letting me continue. "I snuck out of the pack house and ran into the woods, took the entire night to finally make my first kill. It was fun though, sinking my teeth into its little neck and snapping its neck."
Kind of disgusting cause I did all that in my human form, but, no matter. It was still fun. "It was the best night of my life. Well, it was until I met you, then it became my second best night."
"Meeting me was the best night of your life?" Azrael sounded happy when she said that. Looking back up at her, I smiled warmly at my mate. Pausing with playing with her fingers to rise my hand and placed it against her cheek.
"Of course. After all, you saved me, if it wouldn't for you, I probably would still be with the Golden River Pack, being abused every day for the smallest mistake." Hearing that, Azrael's eyes darkened with anger and she let out a low growl.
Leaning down, she pressed her face into my neck, rubbing her nose against my mark, sending shivers down my spine and making me instantly close my legs.
She placed a hand over my stomach, rubbing it with her thumb. "You're MINE. No one is ever going to touch you again." Smiling at that, I reached up and stretched behind Azrael ear. "I know."
The Alpha froze, all her anger fading away in an instant before her foot began tapping against the floor. Her face turning red and her grip around me tightened.
"You're so cute, you know that, Az? Like a little puppy wanting all the scratches." Azrael grunted but didn't removed her face from my neck.
Chuckling, I turned my head and kissed her cheek. Azrael moved her head just a little to catch my eyes, pouting at me for teasing her.
She's a beast in bed, but one little compliment and she's like a little puppy wanting more praise.
Silently staring into her eyes for a moment, I remember Lily. My smile fell and the scratches came to halt. "Az, I'm worried about my little sister." Removing her head from my neck, Azrael looked down at me, tilting her head. "How so?"
"She's not safe here. They're hurting her, just like what the Golden River Pack used to do to me. Maybe even worst."
Gritting my teeth in anger, memories of my conversation with Lily just a few minutes ago flooded my mind. My hands balled into tight fist.
After a moment, a large hand grabbed mine and gently opened my hand just before my nails could draw any blood.
Azrael forced my hand to stay open as she spoke. "Yes, I've noticed her behavior. How she was terrified around my brother's warriors and how afraid she was to be around him."
"When we save her, can she join the pack?"
"Of course, I wouldn't mind that at all." A sigh of relief escaped me and a small smile growing on my lips, imagining seeing Lily happy and free from her abuse.
I only snapped out of it when Azrael suddenly moved up on the bed, laying us both down and pulling the cover over our bodies. I chucked, "Az, what are you doing?"
She yawned. "I'm tired, and because a certain someone left without warning, I couldn't fall back asleep. But now that you're here, we can go back to sleep. After all, not getting enough sleep is unhealthy for both you and the baby."
Rolling my eyes, I don't protest with her. Only snuggling closer to my mates warm body, listening to her heart beating as I closing my eyes. Quickly falling into a deep sleep.
