It hurts...it hurts! Everything hurts. Feeling uncontrollable tears run down my cheeks, I put a hand over my bandaged stomach where the agonizing pain was coming from.
Sniffling as I tightly grip my stomach. Opening my eyes, I turned to see my mate. Watching as she snapped her attention back to me, the anger in her eyes disappearing in an instant and replaced with worry.
"Az." I called out. She was immediately at my side, on her knees as she grabbed my hand. "I'm here, Iris. I'm here." Tears slipped out of my eyes. "It hurts Az." Azrael nodded, her own tears falling down her face. "I know, my love." She kissed my cheek. "Go back to sleep. I'll be here when you wake."
"You won't leave my side?" She shook her head. "No. I'll stay here, at your side the entire time. I won't leave you alone ever again, my love. I swear on my life, Iris. You're stuck with me for the rest of time." Staring up at Azrael for a moment, I slowly nodded my head.
She smiled, pressing a kiss against my hand she was holding as she ran her fingers through my hair. "Sleep. I'll be here when you wake." Closing my eyes, it didn't take long to slip into a nightmare of people screaming for mercy and blood staining my hands.
Letting out a loud gasp, snapping my eyes open, I sat up. Wincing as I placed a hand over my stomach, blinking to get rid of my blurry vision, I looked around to see a group of werewolves sitting around in a circle a few feet away from the bed.
I could make out Roxie, Leo, their parents, Wren and River, as well as a few elders, and Azrael. She was sitting with her back facing me. They were talking but instantly quieted down when I sat up. Azrael was quick to turned around.
Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of me and was up on her feet in a blink of an eye, quickly coming over to my side, taking a seat on the bed. "You're awake, my love."
Silently nodding my head, I glanced over at the werewolves still sitting around in a circle, staring at us. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt your meeting." Azrael shook her head, reaching over to grab my hand. "You didn't interrupted anything, my little flower. In fact, you made it better by waking up."
Looking back at Azrael, she smiled gently at me, rising my hand she was holding and held it against her cheek. "What were you talking about?" I asked, feeling my dry my mouth.
Azrael noticed and grabbed a glass of water that was on the nightstand. She brought it up to my lips and helped me drink. Making the dryness disappear. Pulling the glass back, I let out a satisfied sigh. Turning my head as Azrael put the glass down and wiped a drip of water off my chin.
"We were talking about how many people were killed and injured during the attack and how to strike back to finally win this war." Nodding my head, I glanced over at the others before back at Azrael. "You have a plan right? It's a known fact that the Royal Moon Pack is the largest pack in the country with over thirty thousand warriors. Ten times the number of warriors we have."
Azrael grinned. "That's not gonna be a problem for us anymore, my love." I tilted my head in confusion. What does she mean by that?
"When you were kidnapped and the entire pack and I search for you, we took down pack after pack and they fell under my protection, hence joining The Wild Blood-Moon Pack. The pack expanded by a lot and our newcomers are extremely angry that their king tried to kill them."
Azrael grin widened and she looked slightly amused. "Now, they fight for me. I should actually thank my brother for attacking us cause now, we have over twenty thousand warriors that are willing to fight." Hearing the numbers of warriors, I was shocked. Staring at my mate for a moment before slightly laughing.
"In the spam of nearly three weeks, you expanded the pack so much. You did a very good job, Az. I'm proud of you." A blush formed on Azrael's cheeks as she rubbed the back of her head. "It wasn't any real trouble. It was like taking a carcass from vultures. Easy really."
Laughing, I shook my head. Resting my forehead against my mate's shoulder. My laugh soon quieted down and my eyes moved over to my stomach. Seeing the bandages that was wrapped around it. Memories of what had happened flooded my mind.
My eyes widened in worried and I moved away from Azrael and looked up at her. "Az, our pup. Is our pup all right?" Azrael's breath hitched, tears form in her eyes and she lowered her gaze to stare at the bed. My heart twisted and I already knew the answer, but couldn't accept it just yet. Just a few more seconds until the words were spoken. "The pup didn't survive, Iris. I'm sorry." Azrael whispered, her voice breaking.
Squeezing my eyes tightly close, tears streamed down my face, and my heart shattered. Holding back my sobs, I turned away and used my hand to cover my face.
It's my fault. It's my fault that our pup is dead. If only I had listened, then our pup would still be here. Our pup will still be alive, if only I had listened to Azrael and stayed in our room.
'Stop crying.' What? 'I said stop crying, your baby. What's done is done.' Who is that? 'Are you gonna keep crying about the death of your unborn child or get revenge on the bitch that took them from you?'
Revenge? 'Yes. Revenge on everyone that took everything from you and treated you like dirt. Revenge on the person she called your sister. Revenge on the false king that made your mate's life miserable. Revenge for losing your first pup.'
My wolf growled in anger, agreeing with the voice in my head and itched to get revenge and I was with her.
"Az." Azrael hummed, lifting her head to look at me. Still holding my hand and holding it against her warm, wet cheek, our eyes linked and I could see how tearful her eyes were. "I want to be the one to kill that bitch."
Azrael tilted her head, a small hint of confusion in her eyes. "Who?" I gritted my teeth tiredly. "Maya Gold, daughter of Alpha Raymond." Staring at me for a moment, Azrael agreed reluctantly. "If that is what you want my love, I will not stop you. But before we win this war once and for all, I will train you so you can defend yourself and take down Miss Gold."
Leaning into Azrael's hand, I started into her eyes. Seeing the concern and worry battle inside them. "I won't let you down again, Az." Not again. This time, no one is going to lay another finger on me. No one. I swear on everything I hold dear.
