After the warm bath that was also a short cuddle session, Azrael and I quickly got out of the tub when the water started to get cold and got dressed.
Putting on the fur clothes that Azrael had made for me out of deer hide made me feel at ease. They were comfortable and different, unlike the rags I used to wear cause my old Alpha didn't want to waste clothes on me.
Fixing my shirt, I sighed. Pushing my hair back out of my face before flopping onto bed. Groaning at the smell of my mate scent that made in between my legs all tingly and warm again.
Grabbing hold to the giant fur blanket, I snuggled deep into it. Finding comfort from the familiarly after being away for nearly a month. A month huh? Can't believe I was away from home for so long.
Silently laying on my side, I suddenly remembered something. "Az. Quick question." Azrael hummed and I heard things being moved around behind me. "Why did that witch say that she was still anger at you for killing her bear?"
Azrael paused which made the entire room silent. After a moment of nothing being said, I spoke, "Az." Sitting up, I turned around to face my mate, seeing her standing completely frozen with a fur shirt in her hand and her eyes wide. "Az, did you kill that witches bear?"
Before Azrael could answer, we both perked up upon hearing a loud commotion that was a few halls away. Then, "We're under attack! The false king and his army are attacking us!" My eyes widened. Under attack! How!?
Quickly getting out of bed, I started to rush over to the door only to be stopped. "Iris! You stay here." Azrael growled, pushing me onto the bed. I growled back, baring my teeth at her. "You can't tell me what to do!" I felt my wolf start to stir in the back of my mind, inching for a fight, wanting to get her paws dirty with blood.
Azrael eyes suddenly darkened and she let out this loud growl that shook the room and made me freeze in fear, staring at her wide eye. Unable to move an inch as she stared down at me, breathing heavily. "As your king, Iris Blackwood, you will stay here. That is an order."
I bowed my head, baring my neck. "Yes, Alpha." The room was silently again. I could fear the guilt oozing from the mating bond from Azrael, making my heart ache. "I don't want to be here alone, Az." Azrael sighed.
Leaning down, she pressed a kiss against my head as tears formed in my eyes. A few escaping. "I'm sorry, little flower. But I must go protect the pack. I can not do that if I'm fussing over you the entire time. Please." She moved down, placed her forehead against mine and a hand over my stomach. "I just got you back."
"Okay." I whispered. Azrael pulled away from me, smiling ever so gently as she rubbed my stomach. "Thank you, my love." She gave me one more kiss before walking away, my gaze lowering to stare at the ground.
Hearing the door close and be locked, then the sound of loud running, I finally lifted my head, staring at the door. Wiping away the tears off my cheeks, I stood up. Taking deep breaths to calm myself. "She told me to stay here. But she didn't say how long I was supposed to stay here."
Grinning to myself, my cheeks stained with tears, I hopped out of bed. Slipping on a pair of boots before slipping out of the room after fussing with the lock for a while, quietly closing the door behind me as I looked up and down the hall. Hearing sounds of fighting and shouts.
Seeing that the coast was clear, I began walking down the hall where the shouts were coming from. Taking a few turns, the shouts were slowly getting closer and closer but this place is like a maze and I couldn't find where all the fighting was exactly.
Grumbling to myself, gritting my teeth in annoyance as I went down a dark hall, I noticed a door slightly open to the right of me. Pausing, I looked up and down the hall. Seeing no one. Tuning back to the door, I swallowed down the fear and slowly made my way over to it.
The door creaked as I opened it more to slip in, not bothering to close it as I looked around the room, seeing that it was the throne room which I only visited once before.
Looking around, I instantly saw a familiar hair of long blond hair. My eyes widened in happiness as I walked up to the woman standing before the throne. "Maya?" The woman turned and my happiness only grew when I saw that it was indeed my older sister.
"Maya! What are you doing here?" Maya didn't say anything, having one hand behind her back as I ran over to her. Wrapping my arms around my sister tightly. she wrapped an arm around me. "I missed you sister." I buried my face in between her neck. Opening my eyes after a moment when smelling something familiar.
Pulling away, my hands on Maya's upper arms, I stared at her, my excitement slowly leaving. "Maya, why do you smell like the false king?" Maya smiled at me, tilting her head to the side.
Looking at her confused, I suddenly felt sharp pain. Looking down, my eyes widened at the sight of a dagger piercing my stomach.
Lifting my gaze back up at Maya, tasting iron fill my mouth with blood starting to drip out, she pulled the dagger out of me, taking a step back.
My legs grew weak under me and I collapsed to the floor. I put a hand over the wound to stop the bleeding but it was in vain. The blood streamed out from in between my fingers and soon, a puddle of blood started to form under me.
"Why?" I wheezed weakly, my vision blurred with tears as I started up at Maya as she stared at the dagger for a moment, studying it with a smile. "You are so naïve, little sis."
She spoke with glee, her smile still on her face as she turned to look down at me. "Did you honestly think that I cared about you?" She laughed, throwing her head back as she turned around, walking over to Azrael's Throne.
Blood continued to flow out of my mouth as I watched her sit down on the Throne and looked down at me once more, resting her chin on her hand while I was unable to move from the excruciating pain from the stab wound. Why does it hurt so much? "Why?"
Maya playfully rolled her eyes, crossing her legs over one an other. "Because, I needed someone to spy on father, telling me what he was planning since he refused me access on anything because I wasn't the heir. How fucking annoying that bastard was. Thank the Goddess you killed him for me."
She groaned, leaning back on the Throne. "You were the only person who could give me the information I wanted. Wasn't my fault your so easy to manipulate and believed I actually cared about you. I mean, honest, who could ever care about a Runt like you?" Maya laughed.
So, I'm just a runt to her too?
Shaking my head, I closed my eyes, soft sobs escaping me from all my overwhelming emotions. Looking down, my eyes reopened and I saw blood in between my legs. Why am I bleeding there?
Hearing the door open, footsteps echoed throughout the room as Maya looked to see who it was. Her expression changing to an happy one. "Your majesty!" Your majesty?
Soon, a pair of legs entered my darkening vision filled with spots. My ears rang, making it impossible to hear what Maya and the mystery person was talking about.
But that didn't matter. The only thing on my mind was the fact that my sister betrayed me as my heavy eyes started to flutter close.
Why does the Moon Goddess hate me so much? Why does she forsake me? The Mother of The Forest, Moon, and Night is very cruel.
