Where is she? It's been so long since Azrael left with that Rogue to the point that the sun has set a while ago. Did something happen?
If something did, I would have felt it through the mating bond or have heard any commotion from outside. There were sounds of people entering this building, going into rooms, but that was all.
Biting my lip, I slowly got up from the bed. Putting my legs over the side and stepped down, holding back a whimper when pain shot up from my injured foot.
Tears formed in my eyes but were quickly blinked away. Using the bed as support, I steadily limped over to the door.
Placing my hand on the knob, a hint of hesitation stopped me but it was quickly pushed aside. Opening the door, the loud creaks echoed throughout the hall.
Shutting my eyes tightly closed, I listened closely if anyone had woken up or would come to investigate the noise. Luckily, nothing happened.
Still looking both ways, I stepped out of the room I was staying in. Tiptoeing as best as I could down the empty hall and over to the staircase.
Leaning against the wall while standing on top of the stairs, fear filled me. If I do just the tiniest miscalculation and fall, there was a high chance that I would break my neck.
Gripping the railing tightly, I leisurely went down the stairs one stepped at my time. Stopping for just a moment whenever I stepped on my bad foot. I hope it heals quickly.
When I return to the pack house, Alpha will immediately sent me back to work and do all the chores I missed or punish me for missing them. Not caring that I'm hurt.
How did I even get here anyways? I'm sure Alpha wouldn't have allow Azrael to take me to her own territory. He barely lets me leave the pack house. I'm not even allowed to explore his lands if I don't want to be punished.
I did that once when I was a small child and Alpha locked me in the cell in the dungeon for a really long time. No food or water. I nearly died that time if Maya hadn't snuck down to give me some of her leftovers every few nights.
Fortunately, I survived and was let out to go back to work. After that, I never left to explore Alpha's land again.
Sighing when I reached the bottom of the stairs, I pocked my head around the corner to see if anyone was in the kitchen only to see it empty.
Still being quiet, I limped over to the front door. Silently opening it and stepped out, closing the door behind me.
It was a moonless night and there weren't a lot of people around, only a few and they all seemed to be warriors or gathers judging by their height and a few shorter wolves carrying baskets full of berries.
The fires that I saw earlier have been snuffed out too but I could that a much bigger one had been lit a few cabins away. Which means I have to avoid going that way unless I want to be caught before I can break the mating bond between Azrael and I.
Closing my eyes and focusing on the mating bond, I felt the pull going towards where that giant fire was. Great.
Let's just sneak over and catch Azrael's attention and go to the woods where no one can see us.
Limping over to where all the light was coming from, sticking close to the cabins. It didn't take long to see what was happened, standing next to one of the buildings to keep hidden.
Elders were around the fire, sitting on the ground as they quietly spoke to each other. Warriors behind them, silently watching.
Looking around, my eyes landed on Azrael who was sitting in between two Elders. Her expression was cold and empty with her legs crisscross as she also watched the Elders speak to one another about something.
Tugging on our bone, she flinched and her eyes slightly widened. Looking around, she spotted me leaning against the building. She seemed shocked to see me.
Motioning her to come over, she quickly whispered something to one of the Elders next to her before standing up and coming over to me.
Without waiting and before I could be seen by any of the confused Elders or warriors, I stepped into the shadows and walked the opposite direction of where the meeting was taking place towards the edge of the clearing.
Azrael's shoeless footsteps filled the air as I strolled into the woods. Being careful as to not trip over any tree roots while Azrael continued to follow me.
When I felt that we were far away from everyone, I stopped. Taking in deep breaths from all that walking and feeling exhausted.
Hearing a twig snap, my body turned to face Azrael. "What are you doing, little mate?" She growled, her eyes narrowing at me. "You should be resting at the Healers House. You shouldn't be walking on your injured foot."
No words left me as I stared at Azrael's face, studying every little detail of it knowing that I would never see her again after this.
Gulping down my sorrow, I opened my mouth to say the words but nothing came out. Only a weak moan of pain.
Azrael tilted her head, looking confused and worried, ignoring the hoot of an owl close by. "Is something that matter, Iris?" She asked, taking a step towards me.
Shutting my eyes, and digging my nails in my palm. I looked Azrael straight in the eye, ignoring all the protest inside me. "I, Iris, daughter of Alpha Raymond, reject-"
I couldn't even say the full line before Azrael was suddenly standing above me, hand covering my mouth as she glared down at me with an angry scowl and a hint of sadness in her black eyes. "What do you think you're doing, little mate?" She growled, sending shivers down my spine.
Pushing back my fear, I muffled things behind Azrael's hand and tried to move it away. Which she reluctantly removed herself.
Taking in deep breaths, I looked back at Azrael. "This has to be done, or else-"
"Or else what, little mate?" She huffed, the hand on my arm tightened. A small whimper escaped me by how rough she was being and that made her pause, slightly loosen her grip on me. "Tell me, Iris. Why do you want to..." she took a deep breath. "reject me."
I ignored her words and began struggling to be freed. "I must return to Alpha, I don't belong here."
"You belong to me!" She shouted, making me freeze for a moment. But before I could recover, Azrael began rubbing herself against me. "You're mine. MINE! YOU ARE NEVER LEAVING MY SIDE! NEVER!"
Snapping out of it, I began pushing at Azrael's chest. Trying to get her away from me. "I have to go back to the Golden River Pack!" I growled, frustration building up in me. Why doesn't she understand that this rejection has to happened?
An Alpha can't be mated to a Runt! It'll make her weak!
"I bear the mark of my pack, I belong to them! Not you!" Angry tears began to slip out and roll down my cheeks.
Out of nowhere, Azrael stopped what she was doing and let out a huge roar that echoed throughout the woods.
Before I could do anything, I felt sharp canines digging into my neck. Eyes wide, a loud scream of pain left me as Azrael marked me. My blood poured out from the bite and flow down my neck and back.
Feeling lightheaded, my body slumped against Azrael's. Still feeling her teeth in my neck, my eyes began to feel extremely heavy but I kept them open.
After a moment, Azrael pulled away. My blood staining the side of her mouth and teeth. She paid no mind to it as she sat down on the dirt ground, looking down at me.
"You can't leave me now, little flower." Her words for difficult to hear because of all the ringing. She pulled my weak and exhausted body against her and held me tight, afraid that I might disappear. "You're mine forever." My eyes began to close.
How can I forget? Azrael is a Rouge. Rogues are evil and selfish wolves. They do whatever they feel like, not caring what it would do to others.
Why has the Moon Goddess forsaken me and left me in the hands of the Devil?
